I would like to talk to anyone who has a pain pump with Dilaudid. My mother has a pain pump and I am worried she will be on it for the rest of her life. She has had the pump for many years and I feel it has affected her greatly. She had to have all her teeth pulled because they were rotting and she also has a problem with her tongue burning and red all the time. I am worried she will never get off the pain pump because she is addicted... she also falls asleep all the time even while you are talking to her. Thanks for any advice. Our daughter has advanced stage IV double lung cancer which has metastasized all throughout her body. She is now on IV dilaudid for her severe pain. Works very well. I want the pump taken out and to be put back on oral meds... Can they fill me with saline and wean me down orally? I don't want the pump filled again. I'm scared of leaks. Something has been going on and I want it out. They say they have to fill it again and wean me off. ## You have to be weaned off slowly from the pump which takes several months to do. If you are having pain you should remain on it then have the medication adjusted accordingly. Fear of having complications is not a valid concern for removing your pain pump. I was prescribed Dilaudid 2mg for the repair of an incisional hernia. Pain maiintenance has been a problem in as much as I cannont in the least tollerate even 2mgs of dilaudid. In the hospital was one matter. At home I was scared, felt on and off as if I were dying and very week to the point that I could barely make it to the kitchen to eat even oatmeal It would take me 10 to clean up a small kitchen spill because I was so weak. I switched to 600 mg IB and was chastised by the Advice Nurse for even considering IB and to switch immediately to Tylenol. I am allergic to Vicodin and Percocet so for my last 2 surgical procedures have been prescribed 4mg oral Dilaudid. I understand that it is a very powerful pain reliever but I get minimal relief from it so is it possible that my pain receptors are not responsive to this type of medication? The only other pain med that I take is Lodine (NSAID) for arthritis. It seems that I get more pain relieve from 2 Tylenol but am still in alot of pain with that. Both times after surgery I have stopped taking the Dilaudid after 3 days because I'm still in pain and on top of that constipated. I need these as soon as possible because I ran out a couple days ago and I;m starting to get sick. ## I had a lumbar back fusion in 2008 and no one realized I had a small stroke, so after PT I was falling all the time and I also broke my tail bone on one of the falls. Tell everyone who is using anything that they cannot prove came from a pharmacy. A dear friend of mine got very sick and almost died when he received an 8mg dilaudid looking tablet. It was fake. If you compare it to the real thing there are very subtle differences. The white tablet w/ LCI 1355 has slightly different letters and number 1 than the real one.The letters should look just like they do here. Not Roman style or more fancy lettering. Be careful people. I told the neurologist that I was allergic to morphine and she said these two shots will help you we don't allow you to take any more products here but only we can give you a shot and I can't prescribe anything. She gave me two shots of Dilaudid. I must have not been very potent because I'm still in pain.
