Dilaudid Pain Pills
100+ Topics FoundI would like to talk to anyone who has a pain pump with Dilaudid. My mother has a pain pump and I am worried she will be on it for the rest of her life. She has had the pump for many years and I feel it has affected her greatly. She had to have all her teeth pulled because they were rotting and she also has a problem with her tongue burning and red all the time. I am worried she will never get off the pain pump because she is addicted... she also falls asleep all the time even while you are talking to her. Thanks for any advice. Teresa. ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, this is a narcotic analgesic. There is a different between addiction and dependence. Dependence, which is more than likely what is happening to your mother, occurs when you are just using somethin...
Are my dilaudid pills instant release ## Hello, Maxwell! How are you? No, there are no instant release Dilaudid tablets. These are 2mg regular release tablets, so they start working about 15 to 20 minutes after you take them. This medication is a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## There are Dilaudid extended release out there they come in 20 mg and they work very well for pain. ## Sooo yes actually they ARE considered "instant" release. You stated they are not IR, but they start working around 20 minutes after you take them? ? Just like an aspirin, percoset, ect,ect,ect.....

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications?
Our daughter has advanced stage IV double lung cancer which has metastasized all throughout her body. She is now on IV dilaudid for her severe pain. Works very well. What, as your opinion, is her outlook? Would like to know as much as we can about this medication (including its side effects). Thank you. ## Dilaudid is a potent opiate narcotic that is used to treat severe pain. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Not being a doctor, I really can't speak as to her outlook, cancer is much more complicated to treat and eradicate, once it has metastasized. Regarding the medication, I can tell you that studies have shown that providing such a patient with proper doses to...
I want the pump taken out and to be put back on oral meds... Can they fill me with saline and wean me down orally? I don't want the pump filled again. I'm scared of leaks. Something has been going on and I want it out. They say they have to fill it again and wean me off. ## You have to be weaned off slowly from the pump which takes several months to do. If you are having pain you should remain on it then have the medication adjusted accordingly. Fear of having complications is not a valid concern for removing your pain pump. With the recent television reports of opioid abuse your doctor will NOT follow your request to be put on oral pain meds.. You may be seen as an abuser looking for oral pain medication ## My mom has had a morphine pain pump for over 3yrs. Just a couple weeks ...

Need help fast have lots of pain and do not want to take too much at once... ## Do these pills have a score line in the middle on either side? If so, then yes they are meant to be cut in half specifically for these purposes. If they do not have a score line then I personally would still cut them in half if a whole pill was too much to handle. That is just me, if your looking for someone else's opinion on doing so. I am not an MD or pharmacist, so alternatively I wou...

I was prescribed Dilaudid 2mg for the repair of an incisional hernia. Pain maiintenance has been a problem in as much as I cannont in the least tollerate even 2mgs of dilaudid. In the hospital was one matter. At home I was scared, felt on and off as if I were dying and very week to the point that I could barely make it to the kitchen to eat even oatmeal It would take me 10 to clean up a small kitchen spill because I was so weak. I switched to 600 mg IB and was chastised by the Advice Nurse for even considering IB and to switch immediately to Tylenol. My Question is this: Has anyone every been successful with pain maintenance with Tylenol Extra Strength or with 1/2 a 2 mg Dilaudid pill. Though sill soo afraid of Dilaudid. Thank YOU ## Dilaudid is an opiate narcotic, so it can cause dizzi...
I am allergic to Vicodin and Percocet so for my last 2 surgical procedures have been prescribed 4mg oral Dilaudid. I understand that it is a very powerful pain reliever but I get minimal relief from it so is it possible that my pain receptors are not responsive to this type of medication? The only other pain med that I take is Lodine (NSAID) for arthritis. It seems that I get more pain relieve from 2 Tylenol but am still in alot of pain with that. Both times after surgery I have stopped taking the Dilaudid after 3 days because I'm still in pain and on top of that constipated. Has anyone had this same minimal response and any suggestions on other pain meds I could use if needed? ## Odd. I too had little relief from Dilaudid. I was in a motorcycle accident, and they gave me that after...
how long does it take to be weaned off a medtronic pain pump with the med. dilaudid the pain management wants my daughter to come off it in one month is that to fast and will there be alot of side effects and withdrawal please help i'm really scared for her and they are suppose to start reducing tomorrow ## Dialudid is a potent narcotic containing the active ingredient Hydromorphone. It really depends on how high of a dosage she has been on and for how long. It should be done on a very slow taper, slowly decreasing her dosage every 5 to 7 days, until she eventually isn't using any. She will, more than likely, still experience some withdrawal effects when she finally does stop altogether, however, they should not be severe nor dangerous. Just somewhat miserable. Did they say why ...

If you continue to increase your dos...
I need these as soon as possible because I ran out a couple days ago and I;m starting to get sick. ## I had a lumbar back fusion in 2008 and no one realized I had a small stroke, so after PT I was falling all the time and I also broke my tail bone on one of the falls. I am better in the morning but by 1:00 PM I am in terrible pain. After that I have to wear a brack in order to do anything. I have now been told I need the cervical and throtic spine done. My left arm and hand goes numb and my legs are also being affected. I need help, because I can't live like this much longer. ## Vette, I'm sorry, but this site does not manufacture, sell, nor p...
Tell everyone who is using anything that they cannot prove came from a pharmacy. A dear friend of mine got very sick and almost died when he received an 8mg dilaudid looking tablet. It was fake. If you compare it to the real thing there are very subtle differences. The white tablet w/ LCI 1355 has slightly different letters and number 1 than the real one.The letters should look just like they do here. Not Roman style or more fancy lettering. Be careful people. Try to stop taking pain killers if you can.To many scammers are out there. It is your life people. ## Well said Bibi! In my opinion, if the medication isn't from a licensed pharmacy then the only way to safely verify it's contents is through a lab analysis. And even then, this may not pick up on the presence of certain ina...
Hi everyone, My mom has a dilaudid pump thing. I really don't know much about it in terms of dosage or anything. She's had 6 back surgeries. She has been having a drink or two (vodka) every now and then. Is that problematic? Thanks in advance, Liz ## Hello, Liz! How is your mom doing? The problem with mixing a narcotic and alcohol is due to the fact that they both cause depression of the central nervous system, so it could result in lowered heart rate, blood pressure and shallow breathing. It can also cause aggravation of some of the side effects, so she may feel more dizziness, drowsiness and nausea than usual, because it kind of potentiates each drink. The best thing to do would be to have her check with her doctor. In some cases, there may not be any issues with someone havin...
I AM A 69YR OLDER MAN WITH CHRONIC BACK PAIN. HAVE BEEN ON DILAUDID FOR 10 YRS NOW, BEING THE ONLY MED THAT WE FOUND THAT REALLY GAVE ME A LIFE. NOW FDA IS THROWING ME OUT WITH BABY WATER. JUST MOVED HERE TO LAS VEGAS, WHAT A WASTE. MOVING BACK TO DENVER CO WHERE YOU ARE TREATED LIKE A HUMAN AND THE DR'S WORK WITH YOU AS A PATIENT NOT A MORIAN. THIS FDA HAS TO GO. IT HARMS MORE PEOPLE THEN IT HELPS. SINCE WHEN DOES A PHARM. OVERRIDE A DR'S ADVICE??? COUNTRY IS GOING TO HELL!!!! ## Hello, Willyboy! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. However, the most recent changes weren't made by the FDA, but by the DEA, which handles the regulation of controlled substances and they apply throughout the U.S., not just in Nevada. The FDA classifies Dilaudid as a narcotic...

I told the neurologist that I was allergic to morphine and she said these two shots will help you we don't allow you to take any more products here but only we can give you a shot and I can't prescribe anything. She gave me two shots of Dilaudid. I must have not been very potent because I'm still in pain. If Dilaudid is a derivative of morphine then how can she give it to me if she knows that I'm allergic to morphine? ## Hello, Stefanie! How are you? Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, it is related to Morphine, but not the same, so it can be tried by people that are allergic to Morphine, or other opiates. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and consti...
