I live in southwest Florida and I have not been able to get my Rx in over a month now! I'm frustrated. Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks for your feedback! P.S. I take 20mg x 3 daily IR. ## When this occurs towards the end of a year, and into the beginning of the next, it is usually due to manufacturing production limits of controlled substances. Each manufacturer is allowed a set amount that they can manufacture each year. These amounts are set according to sales, and demand from the previous year. This was done to help keep better track of the supply of these substances, and to try to prevent theft, and diversion. Unfortunately, most years, using figures from the prior year does not always meet the demand for the new year, and shortages occur. A company can request specia...

take 1 tablet by mouth 3 times daily ## Hi will, Thanks for taking the time to share that dosing information. According to the manufacturer's guidelines, they also suggest taking 10 to 20mg orally 2 or 3 times daily; with a third dose to be only be taken if necessary (as in some patients, a lesser amount may still suffice). The dosing indications could be somewhat different for each individual, as well as those using sustained release tablets. So, in my opinion it's always important to verify this type of information with your doctor first. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Methylphenidate Details I hope this helps! ## Thx for the info, especially the link to the secondary pages, it lead me to much more connected information.

I have been taking Methylphenidate mps 20mg for the past few years and doing great. A couple of weeks ago I went up to get my refill but it wasn't the brand I was on. They told me at the pharmacy that it's the same thing. I was taking them but I am feeling weird along with an upset stomach. Headache. They gave me apo brand. I am wondering if it's just me or are they somewhat different? I would call my Dr. but he is out of town. Thanking-you in advance. ## Decreased appetite, dry mouth, and nausea are all very common adverse effects of Concerta. The best way to counteract the gastrointestinal discomfort is by timing your medication appropriately with meals. Concerta should generally be taken about 30-45 minutes prior to a meal. Go ahead and try that for a couple of days and s...

Why is the price of methylphenidate so expensive now? My doctor informed me that it is dirt cheap, and is generic. I was diagnosed with ADD, and was informed it was a cheap drug since I could not afford health insurance. My memory and attention is poor. I am willing to try the drug in generic form. ## I take 10 mg methylphenidate three times daily for narcolepsy. I have no health insurance, but I have been paying $6 for ninety pills at the local Wal-Mart. Today I went to have it renewed and got hit with a $55 bill. I am a senior on fixed income. I would imagine that it is either caused by the increased demand due to upturn in ADHD diagnoses, or some effect of the wonderful new Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. His Grace strikes again? ## And I am taking the generic...forgot to tell yo...

i am on just plain methylphenidate 20 mg tabs. they don't seem to be as effective as they used to be. i was talking to my psychiatrist about switching to something else but he wasn't very agreeable about it. he said these types of drugs are getting more difficult to get. is this true? what is the difference between methylphenidate reg, sa & sr? could this all possibly have something to do with which pharmaseutical companies my doc deals with? ## The SR stands for sustained release, so the ones with that designation are a time release formulation, rather than a regular release, like what you are currently taking. And no, it has nothing to do with any dealings he has with the pharmaceutical companies. If you search our site you will see that many people are having problems get...

I take (seldom, but keep with me as I travel) clonazepam .05 mg-generic for Klonopin) that is the same color. Can anyone advise or should I take them to the Pharmacy to confirm? ## Hello, TW! My son had SEVERE ADHD to the point of hitting teachers when he was 4 in preschool, so he was tried on many meds and finally placed him on 36 mg of Concerta and 1mg of Tenex for any left over aggression. When he was in 1st grade the Concerta was moved up to 54mg. Now he is almost 12 and he says he doesn't feel "normal" when he takes them (sometimes we skip weekends). What is the safest way to stop? ## Since it does contain Methylphenidate, which is a psychostimulant, there can be some problems and rebound effects, if you completely discontinue it abruptly. So, it really should be slowly tapered, to minimize the possibility of such issues occurring. Learn more Concerta details here. Have you consulted his doctor? They should be able to help you with a safe and effective taper...

Medicare wants to switch me from provigil 200 mg once/day, which I have been taking to establish a sleep pattern successfully for 4 years, and replace it with methylphenidate. WIll it perform the same? ## Provigil contains the active ingredient Modafinil and Methylphenidate is a stimulant, but they are used to treat the same conditions. The only way, however, to tell if it will work for you is to actually try it. You may experience side effects, such as: nausea, headache, irritability and insomnia. Read more: Are there any comments or questions? ## Thank you for the info. It appears that Methylidate is basically, Ritalin. I noticed that the medication's half life is 24 hours, SO, if I take this in the morning to deal with Narcolepsy, and I plan on sleeping 16 hours later, it may cau...

Do u no the manufacturer of Wal-Mart and Is there any truth to rite aid manufacturer being not effective. ## Hello, Danette! How are you? There is no specific one that any given pharmacy always carries, it can vary, depending on which company was offering the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply. Thus, I can't provide you much information based on your post. For instance, next month, rather than the getting the Mallinckrodt product from Rite Aid, they may have the same one you used to get from Wal...

The 3 Manufacturers are Mallinkrodt/Methylin, Sandoz and Watson Pharmaceuticals. On this day, December 3,2011 I learned that if a generic drug is back ordered in lots of different Pharmacies our HMO's will pay for the drug that is prescribed. All who are prescribed Methylphenidate 20 mg. are being turned away by CVS, RiteAid, including the pharmacies in some Giant food stores . If you are prescribed both forms of this drug do not let the Pharmacist fill one part of your prescriptions and if both are on 1 prescription sheet never trust anyone to complete the refill. They'll fill the one they have and as far as the other part, you lose! ## Finally my pharmacy failure has been explained. I went to my CVS Pharmacy and Talked with the manager about the crisis of this back order defen...

The first day it was ok, made me feel a little more energy, more focus, but also kinda jittery, the fallowing days I didn't even feel anything other than some anxiety and loss of appetite, I was supposed to take them for a month but after taking them for 15 days I decided they were not doing anything for me, except making me want to take Xanax (which I am also prescribed for anxiety) I normally don't take it unless I really need it and just tiny dosages. Anyways went back to my doc. Told him Ritalin wasn't working for me and I wanted to try Adderall; my doc prescribe me Adderall XR 25 mg capsules. I fill my scrip at Walgr...

This "chalky" white round pill is engraved with: no|vo on scored side and 0.1 on unscored side. The pill is identified as Novo-Clonidine (0.1 mg) Clonidine has been prescribed historically as an antihypertensive drug, but has found new uses, including treatment of some types of neuropathic pain, opioid detoxification, sleep hyperhidrosis, anaesthetic use, and off-label, to counter the side effects of stimulant medications such as methylphenidate or amphetamine.
