I cut a 30 mg Oxycontin in half and have already taken it. I didn't know the pill was time release until after taking it and I also took a whole one this morning. It is blank on other side. There is a score mark. Someone said hydrocodone another said oxycodone. ## Are there any markings on it, or just the score? If there are no markings, it can be ruled out as being a U.S. manufactured and approved prescription medication, because they are all required to have markings to enable their identification. However, it could be any one of a large number of over the counter products and there is also a small chance that it could be a foreign medication. Is it possible to at least cut these in half in order to take a lower doseage? ## These are time released tablets and, even though they have tried to formulate them to prevent it, cutting them in half could still result in your getting too much of the medication released, at once. The Oxycodone in this is a very potent narcotic analgesic and getting too much at once could be very dangerous. Since this particular tablet is scored, I would personally feel safe doing so.
