I have a full prescription bottle of Clotrimazole 10 mg troche. They were issued to me December 26, 2013. Today is January 13, 2017. They've been kept in my dresser drawer in bedroom in controlled temperature indoors. I currently have Oral Thrush in my mouth and a vaginal yeast infection . I need to know if i can take these tablets? ## This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it does start to lose efficacy, so it likely will not work as well as it did, when new. I used 3 tablets one per day and I feel great but I think the tablets might be causing vaginal dryness? My symptoms were really light, some white curd like discharge, nothing more. It showed in the morning and in the evening used the first tablet. But now it kind of aches and feels dry and it is really difficult to put the tablets in. I was having vaginal discharge which was white with no odour. I visited the pharmacy and I was given Clotrimazole pessaries to insert last thing before I go to bed. But I had my period 2 nights after starting the Clotrimazole. Do I still continue inserting the drugs during my period??

I had a miscarriage 10 months back due to a hematoma in the womb. And because of continued use of sanitary napkins, I developed a severe skin itch. Tried every topical application recommended by doctors. I am now told I have a fungal infection. I am advised Canesten (Clotrimazole) vaginal tablets. I have been using Clotrimazole betamethazone for 2 weeks for vaginal topical yeast infection. I now have small white pimple bumps and it doesn't seem that the cream has helped at all. Called my Dr., he said it sounds like it's healing up. Is it harmful to use expired clotrimazole cream for Serious Red Rash in Vagina with expiration date: November 2009 ? I would believe it is but my friend says NO....... ## Yes, you are correct and it shouldn't be used. Creams tend to degrade fairly fast and usually contain oils that can go rancid with time. Thus, trying to use one that's this old to treat a vaginal issue could just end up making the situation worse. It is best to use a new cream that is still fully potent and within its expiration date.
