I was prescribed Clarithromycin 14 x 500mg by my doctor at Christmas for a cold that seemed to be developing into a chest infection. I didn't want to be ill during Christmas so I got the prescription dispensed. In the event I didn't need to take it but the flu I now have has developed into a chest infection. Normally I am prescribed 250mg twice daily for 7 days. Could I take 500mg once per day for 7 days or should I cut the 500mg pill and take it as 250mg twice daily. I am concerned about compromising the efficiency of the treatment. Any advice? ## I can really only advise that you consult your doctor to see what you should do. These pills are in my grandmothers cabinets, and before i throw them away I want to make sure they are something she doesn't need: - yellow oval with A KJ on the pill - yellow oval and 7244 on one side and 93 on the other ## Both of these pills are 500mgs of Clarithromycin, an antibiotic. If she is no longer supposed to be taking them, then no harm in removing them from her medicine cabinet. ## I checked in this site's NDC database and can confirm that both of those oval pills contain Clarithromycin 500 mg. NDC 0074-3165 is a yellow oval tablet with imprint a (logo) KJ. (Biaxin XL) NDC 0093-7244 is a yellow oblong tablet with imprint 93;7244 and is also extended release Clarithromycin. Hope this helps add some confirmation!

it is a yellow pill ## I have two prescriptions for Clarith romycin but the pills are no the same. The older one has oblong yellow pale pills with DV on one side and D on the other. The brand new prescription has larger more tapered oval pills, the same pale yellow, stample 7158 on one side, and 93 on the other.
