I had no idea u could not break the pill in half and this is my first time taking it. I broke it in half and took it. I just now read how dangerous it is. I just came off my percocet yesterday and now take this. Is it common for it to be a huge problem or not real common. Im worried of overdose. So if i took 15 mg as i broke it in half going to be a huge problem? Ive been taking percocet and methadone for years and i high a high tolerance for opiates. How long would it take if something bad were going to happen? ## Hello, Jennifer! How are you doing? Did you experience any ill effects? That is correct, it is not safe to cut or break tablets that are time released, because that could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potenti...

I need to find out if I can cut my pills in half or in 1/4's and still have the medication be extended release and still help with my pain? I have never done it before and I do not like taking the pill all at once. ## No, it is not safe to cut a time released pill, if you prefer a lower dosage, you should speak to your medical provider and ask if they will prescribe one for you. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications?

I weigh about 110 pounds and I have been dealing with lower back pain from a fall which injured my tailbone and also have pain in my legs. For six years now . I was wondering how strong the morphine 30 milligram extended release was? I have had loratab before and 20 milligram oxycodone. But I certainly don't want to overdose on it. Can someone help me out? I have a fair tolerance to opiods. ## Hello, Sis! How are you? Each 30mgs of Morphine is actually equivalent to 20mgs of Oxycodone, so Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half times stronger, which should give you some basis for comparison. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ...

I was on 60mg of oxycontin 3x a day, and cuz of my insurance company had to switch to 15mg of extended release morphine.. I am very concerned about the pain or withdrawal symptoms. Anyone know if it's the same?? ## Oxycodone is actually one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so to be equivalent in pain relief, you'd need 90mgs of Morphine to match each 60mgs you were taking of Oxycontin. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If you are taking 15mg doses, then yes, you may experience pain and some withdrawal symptoms, which may include nausea, diarrhea, fever and chills. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Wo...

I just learned that a friends, yes seriously a friend, has for the last nine days taken a half of a 15mg extended relief morphine every day and was planning to intermittently take a whole one to hopefully avoid withdrawal. My friend is doing this because my friend is going on vacation and his prescription becomes due during the time he is away. Our state has instituted "drug contracts" with the prescribing doctor and pharmacy for people using these types of drugs. This means he can not have it filled early to take with him, and his doctors office has rules about calling for the script 48 hours maximum before it is due. He was only trying to make it last so he would not be in as much pain and not go through withdrawal. I was concerned because I know you are not supposed to cut an...

I have small white pill with 54 733. I know it's Morphine but is it extended release or immediate? And can I break in half or even fourths? In a lot of pain right now and I am at work. Need some relief. Thank you!! ## The pill you have is Morphine sulfate (15 mg); NOT an extended release version. To answer your other question, yes, you can break this pill in half, as it has a score line. Manufacturer: Roxane Laboratories NDC: 0054-0235 Inactive Ingredients: -Silicon Dioxide -Starch, Corn -Cellulose, Microcrystalline -Stearic Acid You can view a more detailed description of Morphine, by clicking on the link below... Hope this helps! ## Hi Cookie, If the pill is a small round white pill with the numbers 54 733 it is an immediate release not extended. The extended release morphine are...

green and white capsule 60mg ## The drug is a Hydocodine. It is a very potent pill. I have seen them as low as a 10mg and as high as 90mg. There are for sever pain, and should be taken w/ caution. LIke I said VERY potent! ## Correct spelling is Hydrocodone ## This pill is not hydrocodone or hydrocodine. It is a type of morphine iI just don't know what kind. ## Are there any other symbols or numbers on the capsule ? I have the following description which might help: Capsule Half White, Half Bluish Green with the imprint 60 mg on the white half, and if you turn it over 506 on the other side of the white half: This is 60 mg Morphine Sulfate Extended Release brand name Avinza. Does any part of this description sound like a match ?

Doctor told me to half my 30 mg. MS-CONTIN but the package said this pill should not be split. It is a small mauve pill. I believe it is time-relased. ## Time released (also known as controlled release [CR], or extended release [ER]) generally should not be split because of how they are designed. Do the pills in question have any score marks on them? If they are scored then you should be able to split them. If not, then I would triple check with the pharmacy to get their opinion. When in doubt I'd stick with the instructions on the label. You might even want to get in touch with your doctor (if possible) and tell them that the package specifically states not to split the pill and ask them what they think. Hope this helps! ## Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I called the phar...

Are these Half Moon Logo 271 Yellow pills really new Actavis morphs? Just got my script n they don't seem right. Can't get any answer ## Yes, that is correct! Actavis does list these tablets as containing 30mgs of Morphine in an extended release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was also prescribed the yellow 271 30mg and they don't seem to work as well as the purple 30mg ones I was getting. These ones I can barely feel. I don't understand why they changed it. ## Which is stronger morphine30sulfer or oxycodone half 15mg and how many hrs of relief shoul...

I was taking 4 80 mg oxys daily my doc put me on 2 100 mg teva morphines will it help the same and will i go through withdraw thank you ## There may be some issues here, because the Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half time stronger than the Morphine, so you'd need 120mgs of Morphine to equal each 80mg dose you were taking of the Oxycodone. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Learn more Morphine details here. Why did he change your medication? ## Pain Meds 101: For chronic pain management...the best result is almost always a long acting med (OxyCONTIN (currently no generic so $$$), Morphine Sulfate E/R extended release, Opana (not my particular fave), Fentanyl Patches and Exalgo). Only the latter are taken 1x per day..the others are SUPPOSED to be 12 hr meds to be taken 2x a day but mo...

2 100mg morphine sulf er a day. Is that alot? ## yea thats alot . i was taking 3 had been for yrs changed me to pain management and he starting cutting all my meds in half. think they are doing me some kind of favor. yea right . wish he had a good dose of my problems and pain. I've been in pain longer than this ass has been alive. ## I was on 130mg's of the morphine sulfate every 12 hours. When I accidentally took two and called the poison control line they told me that 200mg's was the highest they prescribe anyone and that's on their death bed. Now they have medication that is stronger but they can only safely prescribe so much morphine without destroying or damaging your organs. But I'm pretty sure that the highest they go on the extended release morphine is 200mg ...

I'm barely able to write this. Pain meds not working last couple of days. One change is I want to use up some old pills made by Ranbaxy. Might be this be my problem? I googled around but am not finding anything on best generic Morphine Er. TIA! ## Sorry to hear about your pain. This will probably sound like a silly question, but can you confirm that the old Ranbaxy pills were not expired? If they had worked well for you in the past but are not helping now, that would be my first guess. Also, may I ask what mg dose your tablets are, and what is the previous brand that gave you good results? There are probably at least half a dozen manufactures for the extended release morphine generics. I expect most to be comparable to one another, but there are anecdotal stories of certain variance...

I have been taking 10mg Methadone tabs every morning for about 20 days. My question is... I wanted off of them before my body became dependent, so yesterday morning I took 10mg, and about 4 hours later took a 15mg extended release morphine. Felt pretty normal. This morning, no Methadone but took the morphine. I want to know if I'm going to experience any kind of withdrawal symptoms? If so, I know that it has a very long half life, when will symptoms start? I have 6 Methadone tablets left. I know I'm not on a high dose for a long time like some others. I feel for them. I have been taking opiates half my life! Please, any answer will help, as well as any advice. I have 3 weeks of Morphine left. (15mg tabs at one a day.) I thank you so much. God Bless. ## Yes, you may still experie...

Can this pill be broken in half and taken? 200 mg is very strong. Half of that dose would be more agreeable. Will it still work as it should? Just not as strong? ## Generally, if the medication is not in an extended release form, I don't see why it wouldn't be safe to divide the tablet in half for a smaller dosage. However, this particular tablet does appear to be extended release and therefore I would NOT encourage anyone to tamper with it in any way, even for legitimate reasons. Just to be sure we are on the same page, this is an oblong green pill with [M] on one side and "200" on the other. And it reportedly contains 200mgs of Morphine sulfate SR (slow release). For verification, the manufacturer is listed as Mallinckrodt. It may be best to ask your doctor for a lower...

i take morphine sulfate imm rel 30 mg tab x3 daily. the 30 mg doesnt help my pain, my question is can i split 1 of my 30 mg in half & take 1 whole 30 mg at 1 time making it 45 mg ## You need to discuss this with your dr. Immediate release can be broken. Long acting/extended release should not be.

Is it okay to break this tablet in half. It does not has any type of coating to delay its release into the system. It just has a bunch of fillers. I used to be a pharmacy tech. We were taught it was okay to break in half if it was scored, it should only be taken whole if in capsule form or had any type of coating (for slowing the release down.) These pills are rather large and have no coating. Sometimes it is easier for me to take them in two small pieces rather than one larger one. I never ever crush them. ## No, the ER stands for extended release, which means there is something inside the tablet that controls the rate of the release of the medication. Not all time released formulations rely on an outer coating, it is sometimes incorporated into the interior of the pill, due to the fac...

I was taking 30mg oxycodone and the doctor switched to 15 mg Morphine ER and 15mg oxycodone and the pain is the worst it's been in the last 8 months. Am i going crazy or is it possible that the morphine does nothing for me. And if so I can't see the doctor for another 7 days ## 15mg er morphine is the least amount available in the er class of pain meds, er stands for extended release, this means that basically you are receiving 15 mg per 6 hrs, over a 12 hr period. and obviously you receive half of the dose you were getting with oxycodone. long story short, you Dr.isn't doing you any favors, only reducing your pain meds and increasing your pain!, 15 mg er morph doesn't do much at all! ## Morphine when taken by mouth is super weak. I am suprised you didnt have some feelin...

I've been taking percocet 7.5/350 mg. for 3 yrs. I was recently prescribed morphine 15mg-cr and I am not getting much pain relief from the morphine. I thought and was told morphine is stronger than percocet but I got more relief from the percocet than I do from the morphine. I of course plan on telling my dr. asap but was just woundering in the meantime. ## Actually, Oxycodone is one and half times stronger than Morphine, plus the Percocet also contained Acetaminophen, which helps the Oxycodone to work better. And not every medication works for everyone that tries it, so it could just be that the Morphine isn't effective for you and you may need to switch back to Oxycodone, or Percocet. Are there any other comments or questions? ## Morphine ER is a extended release where as Perc...

I need a clear answer of how long will it take for the Morphine Sulfate ER to get out of one's system before it's safe to drink alcohol? To be very clear, I know to never drink on the same day of taking opiates, especially ER (extended release) drugs. I'm taking morphine sulfate ER 15 mg twice a day. With these ER drugs, I understand that they're designed to remain in the body for long. When looking up the half life for morphine, it would only refer to the morphine itself without factoring the ER delivery system. So I cannot find reliable info for my question. How long should one wait to drink, or how long will it take for Morphine Sulfate ER to significantly get out of your system, before it's safe to consume alcohol. Although I only plan to have only a couple of dr...
