Can You Crush Metformin

Is the Metformin A14 pill an extended release tablet? My mother has difficulty swallowing the pill. I want to know if I can crush it up for her? Please help! ## Hello, Milton! How are you? I have some Metformin Hcl 1000mg tablets. My dose has been reduced to 500 mg. Is it safe to cut the 1000mg ones in half? ## It is safe, as long as you weren't taking a time released formulation. This would be denoted on your prescription label by an abbreviation such as ER, XR or SR. There will usually also be a warning on them from the pharmacy that says do not crush or chew, swallow tablet whole. are m350 injectable? ## The pill in description marked M 350, is Metformin hydrochloride ER (750 mg). When you inject this specific pill, you're also getting the following inactive ingredients in your veins; which is very dangerous in my honest opinion: carnauba wax silicon dioxide colloidal magnesium stearate polyethylene glycol stearic acid Some people may have found ways to filter these out through various processes (i.e. microwaving, crushing, shifting, etc), but I'm just offering my own two-cents here and wouldn't recommend injecting something that should be taken orally.

Doctor ordered me Janumet XR but there was no way I could take these horse-pills. The pills were huge and they couldn't be crushed or cut. I had to go back on Metformin and Januvia separately. Maybe the company should issue the medication in half a dosage taken twice a day rather than these Monster Pills.
