i sometimes get confused with my prednisone pills i am taking both 1mg and 10mg and they are both close very close in apperance and size. can i coat them by put some chocolate powder sugar so i can eliminate taking the wrong dose? what do you recommend. ## Have you asked your pharmacist for ideas? I'd think that anything that marked them, without making them damp, so they'd start to dissolve would be fine. You'd also want to avoid something that would make them stick together, so I do have concerns about the sugar, because it could sometimes do that. I wonder if a good coloring pen, would work, since it would be something that you could use to mark them, without making them really wet? I'd suggest checking with your pharmacist, they may even have a way that they can do i...

As the other person asked. I would like to dye my white pills to quickly identify I sort ny pills in a weekly keeper so I cant leave them in the container they come in. Any suggestions? ## Hello, Eileen! How are you? You can't actually dye the tablets, so to speak, because that would get them wet and cause degradation. The best option would be just to familiarize yourself with the markings on them, so you can recognize them that way. All prescription tablets in the U.S. are required to have unique markings to enable their identification, in case of emergency. Once you became familiar with the markings on each medication, you can tell at a glance which tablet you've picked up. However, I realize that for some people, that isn't going to be practical, small tablets can be very...

I was taking a white throyid pill, and had no problem, I am now taking a 110 dose from 100mg, and its pink in color, but my head itches, could that be a cause ## Hello, Judie! How are you? There are 2 possibilities that may explain, your hormone levels could be changing and causing this symptoms, or yes, it could also be due to the dye in the pill. Some companies are now removing dyes from their prescription medications, because they've had a lot of people having bad reactions to them. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hair loss, weight changes and mood swings. What are the markings on the pink tablet? If you can post back with this information, I can check for you to see what kind of dye is used in it.

Has anyone ever had a problem with coloring their hair while taking the medication Amoxil? ## In response to your question: Amoxil is usually non-reactive to most chemicals; especially to minor beauty products such as hair dye. It should not react

I am allergic to dyes and it is so difficult to find pm pain relief ## Hello, Vickie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. The PM pain relief formulas only contain the relevant medication, such as Acetaminophen (Tylenol PM), Ibuprofen (Advil PM) or Naproxen (Aleve PM) accompanied with Diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Thus, if your doctor approves, you could most likely find dye free versions of both of them and just take them separately. I know that many Acetaminophen tablets are available as just white tablets with no dyes, plus Benadryl has a dye free formulation available specifically for people with such allergies. The FDA lists the typical side effects of these medications as possibly include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and stomach irritation. Is there ...

I was curios if anyone knew why xanax changed from purple to blue. When I was 16-19, about 24-21 years ago 1mg xanax were purple. 1mg Halcion were blue back then. Halcion started to get bad publicity from wife's killing their husbands and it led to the Halcion defense. Shortly there after the Halcion was either removed or fell out of favor with doctors and the blue xanax began to emerge. Does anyone know why the color change, I've heard heard weird things like the dye to make them purple was bad for people but I would like to know the real reason. Thanks for any info you can give me. ## Well, I don't know why it changed, but I can tell you that the color actually doesn't mean anything, it is entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer. They can make them any col...

I take care of a woman on Hospice and she takes liquid morphine. When I first opened the bottle it was a light blue color, now after a month it has changed to a clear color. Is this possible or normal? Or is someone tampering with it? How can I tell? ## Hi Rita, I don't think morphine is naturally blue, so it seems to me like a dye or food coloring could've been used as a part of the inactive ingredients. A few things I'd be curious to know about: - Is there any "settlement" at the bottom of the bottle if you were to shake it up? - Was the bottle was stored properly, and if not, could sunlight or heat alter its physical properties? - And lastly, does the woman you take care have anything to say about the color change or the medication not working as well as it should...

i found a few cor 226 pills in an old oxycodone bottle the pills are a darker blue than the pictures online the script was filed last oct and is good until this coming october 2012, so why are the pills a darker blue ? is it because it is discolored from being in the bottle for 2 long ??? according 2 the bottle the pills havent expired yet ... ## If you don't want to take a chance you can mail them to me. It would save me a ton of money on gettin my scripts filled if their still good. ## It is hard to say why the color looks darker, the online images may be affected by your monitor settings, the pills may be aging, the company may have used a different dye than usual.... The color actually doesn't mean anything. Are there any other comments or questions? ## The blue ones are 30m...

After reading all the posts about this particular med, I now realize that the different colors of this same medicine affects each of us differently. I cannot take the blue, yellow or orange clonazepam but the pink one is a life saver for me. My pharmacist has given me the others and my anxiety doubles. I have searched for the drug store that carries the pink one. I just cannot take the others. So weird how the same medicine, same dosage is so very different from manufacturer to manufacturer. What is the difference really? And why are they different? I wondered if it was the dye to color the pills. :-) Hope everyone gets the one that works best for you. ## Hello Imabkwrm, To answer your question simply the primary difference you typically find between brands of a medication is the inacti...

sertraline HCL 50 mg has a blue coating, which I wipe off. I am allergic to dyes. Is the color on the 100 mg just a coating also? ## Hi, Carlene! Unfortunately, I can't provide you with an answer, yet. This is due to the fact that Sertraline is a generic and is manufactured by different companies, so I don't know which specific tablets you're asking about. But, what I can tell you is that there are some that don't have a coating, they are just white tablets. Thus, you may be better served to just make your pharmacy aware of your dye allergy, so they can provide you with tablets that have no dye in them and no coating. However, if you really want to check on the ones from the same manufacturer, I will gladly do so, if you can post back with the name of the manufacturer or...

I have always taken the Watson 853 yellow pill and for some reason I was just given Watson 853 white pills. What is going on? Why the color difference? ## It seems from other posts made on here recently that Watson is just removing the dyes from some of their products. There have been some complaints from people that have had sensitivity or allergic reactions to them, so they have been doing away with them. However, as long as the imprint is the same and your pharmacy has listed it as being the same medication and the same dosage, then you shouldn't have any reason to worry. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Not the same for sure! ## I have experienced poor results with the white pills. If they are different and labelled the same then walgreens is liable for damages! ## ...

Can someone please help me find an 500mg amoxicillin that does not have blue or green dye in the capsule? I would also prefer any amoxicillin capsule that is not red or pink or yellow. I have problems with dyes. It was suggested to me that I call Poison Control and they told me that Duramed makes an amoxicillin that is clear and buff in color - this would be acceptable although, no dye is preferred. Can you get me 500 mg amoxicillin that has no dye or is clear and buff in color? I have a refillable Rx for 200 capsules. Thank you, *S* ## Teva pharmaceuticals makes some 500 mg amoxicillin caps & tabs that do not appear to have the dyes in them: ## Thanks a lot! *S* ## Are there any pictures of amoxicillin from the U.K?

I take three and sometimes four round white pills approximately the same size and would like to add food coloring or powdered jello to them to make them different. I take them for heart, bone and headaches. What can I do and which is better the food coloring or the powdered jello? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? What I would suggest is leaving them in the properly labeled bottles to avoid mixing them up. That would be the simplest solution and it certainly wouldn't affect their efficacy, in any way. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Ask your pharmacist if he has THREE different colored bottles more-or-less suitable for the pill size and quantity and remember this single color code.

I had been taking a white colored hydrocodone but all of a sudden the pharmacy started giving me pink ones. At first I thought nothing of it but soon realized I was not getting the same results. I talked to my Dr thinking perhaps I needed one stronger but would let her know and watch it for awhile. This month I got the white pills again and after a week I realized these took care of my pain and lasted longer. My question is, what is the ingredient that makes them pink as I'm highly allergic to red dye and am thinking this could be the problem. ## Hello, Jacki! How are you? I am sorry about the problems you've experienced. What are the markings on them? I'm sorry, but a pill cannot be positively identified based on just the color. orange round pill 44 332 ## I cannot find an ID for this specific pill, however, I can tell you that those marked with a 44, followed by additional numbers are over the counter products. ## I've found them in the same bottle as the 44 438 Ibuprofen 200 in white tablet form. If you look at the label, it's orange and white, yet the label stated "color free & dye free". This was from lot #P33051 3/06. I've discarded these. My first thought when I opened the bottle: Apparently someone had a sense of humor and decided to package the contents to match the label of the bottle I found in my Grandmother's OTC supply. I am trying to find out if what i have, is what i think it is, but i am not sure what color liquid lorazepam comes in. If someone could help me by answering, id be so grateful. ty ## Just because it may be a particular color doesn't mean it's Ativan/Lorazepam, so it still wouldn't likely be safe to try using it, because there are many other things that it could be. Learn more Ativan details here. There is no color coding for injectable liquids, so they can be whatever color the manufacturer feels like making them, or not have any, if they so choose. Most are clear, or may have a slight yellow tint to avoid the use of dyes that some people may be allergic to. Just from a quick browse online, the ones I am seeing images of are all clear liquids, but as I said, that doesn't...

I have been using Norco 10/325 for 5+ years. The last prescription arrived with a color change. (From yellow to white) The difference is life changing. After 30 minutes, I become sleepy, the exact opposite of the yellow tablets which gave me energy along with reduction in pain. I have had both hips replaced, resulting in severe back pain. The Norco has allowed me to live normally for 6 hours a day. Is there any way or anywhere that I could get the original yellow tablets? ## No, the yellow ones are no longer being manufactured. The company removed the dye from them, due to issues with people being allergic to it, or suffering from sensitivities, which has resulted in the appearance of the white ones that are now on the market. Learn more Norco details here. The new side effect of sleepi...

I am a hospice nurse. We administer clear liquid morphine to our patients and teach the family how to administer it. Many are having trouble seeing how much they are pulling up in the syringe. Is is appropriate to add a very tiny minuscule amount of blue food coloring so that the patients can see the liquid and be safe? Please help. Thanks ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? I'm not sure if it would be safe, since food colorings aren't made to be used in such a manner. There are some dyes that are, so you may want to look into ordering one of them and using it. You wouldn't need a lot, just enough to add a slight tint to make it easier to see. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsines...

For the first time I took a tablet called letrozole which is generic for Femara 2.5 mg. It is yellowish in color and I called the manufacturer before taking since i have a pretty serious reaction to yellow dye #5 and they assured me the color was from ferrous oxide not yellow dye. An hour after taking the tablet, I had lip swelling and rash across shoulders and back. Took a benadryl and went to bed. Some difficulty in swallowing for the next few days and a rash that didn't clear for 4 days. Lips still peeling and raw. Because I need to take this tablet to prevent recurrence of breast cancer, I am concerned and ready to try another tab without the yellow color. Wondering if this would be a safe idea. ## Glad the pharmacy and the Oncologist have ordered a new generic for Femera. Hopin...

I found one of these and all I could find was the white version online with 5/500 CENTRAL. I know these pills are old but what are they? ## Hi suga, One thing to take into consideration is that drug manufacturers can change the color, shape or appearance of their tablets at their own discretion without any prior notice to the public. So if you did stumble upon a white version of this pill with the same or similar depiction, there's a possibility that the dye was removed...or they may at least be related and are simply a different dosage... Schwarz is the name of the manufacturer who makes a white oblong pill with the word "CENTRAL" on one side and 500 | 5 on the other. Perhaps if you contacted this manufacturer directly, they could give you some additional information on the...
