My 87 year old mom is staying with me at Christmas. I have LASIK and potassium that are supposed to be given 20mg and 10 mg respectively. Can I half the dose? ## Hello, Anita! How are you? The potassium, however, is one of those that is usually marked not to be broken, cut, crushed or etc. It can cause severe irritation of the stomach if that is done, so it needs to be taken whole. diltiazem 120 + lasix 80 + inspra 25

Just had back surgery. My blood pressure has been low so I stopped taking the diltiazem and cut the lasix in half to 40 mg plus the inspra 25 mg. The biggest concern is that if you drop the dosage of these medications too abruptly, or stop one suddenly, it could result in a rebound effect, according to the NIH, which could cause the exact opposite problem of dangerously elevated blood pressure and heart rate.
