Can This Lasix Pill Be Cut In Half

My 87 year old mom is staying with me at Christmas. I have LASIK and potassium that are supposed to be given 20mg and 10 mg respectively. Can I half the dose? ## Hello, Anita! How are you? Yes, as long as tablet, such as the Lasix isn't time released or marked that you shouldn't cut, break or chew it, it is okay to do so, but you should always make sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. The potassium, however, is one of those that is usually marked not to be broken, cut, crushed or etc. It can cause severe irritation of the stomach if that is done, so it needs to be taken whole. Is there anything else I can help with?

Just had back surgery. My blood pressure has been low so I stopped taking the diltiazem and cut the lasix in half to 40 mg plus the inspra 25 mg. If the occurs, it could place you at risk of heart attack, or stroke. How low has it been, since the surgery? Are you on any other medications? ## Thanks for the input I'm b...
