Until i can get an appointment?? ## It is a broad spectrum antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. However, the main issue is that you may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection, which could cause further complications, such as your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria and that could turn into a much more severe mess. Can I take doxycycline 100mg for a toothache? I'm also taking Lisinopril 20 mg and Bupropion 75mg. ## John Docycline is not a pain reliever it wouldn't have any pain relieving properties.Ibuprophen is excellent for tooth pain it's an OTC med. ## Can I take the antibiotic for a bad tooth that is abscessed with the other two drugs? ## @John, If there's really a bacterial infection present, then killing the infection with an antibiotic makes sense and will probably help alleviate pain that the infection was causing. As to the efficacy of Doxycycline being used for this purpose, I do think there may be better options on the market. However I haven't come across any details suggesting not to take that particular drug combination of Lisinopril, Bupropion and Doxycycline. A...

No money right now for a dentist and I have a new bottle of doxycyline hyclate in 20 mg form (using for acne) pill says lci on one side and 1336 on the other, small round white. I have a tooth abscess and want to know if I can increase the dosage safely to 100 mg per day to fight the infection? ## @Jason, Based on my research, Doxycycline can be used for a tooth abscess. The usual adult dose for a severe bacterial infection is listed at 100mg orally every 12 hours for 7 to 10 days; (but the 100mg may also be taken once daily as a "maintenance" dose for less severe infections). My only question to you would be do you have enough pills to run a full course of treatment, in order to fully eradicate the infection? The last thing you'd want is drug resistant bacteria, so I do hop...

wondering if i can use 100 mg doxycycl to reduce swelling from toothache infection? cheek swollen but no money to see dentist at present ## Doxycycline is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections, but trying to self-treat an infection in such a manner could create several problems. First of all, if these are leftover antibiotics from treating another infection, you may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection. Next is the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, if that is the case. And another is the fact that is will not clear up the underlying issue that caused the infection, which means it will just keep returning and causing more problems. You do need to see your dentist as soon as possible. You can learn more Doxycycline details here. Are...

i have an absess tooth and want to know if I can take Sulfamethoxazole-TMP-DS for this? ## An abcess tooth is tricky and may be dangerous depending upon the circumstances. Serious bone (i.e. osteomylitis) infections can develop if not cared for. Pen VK first, Amoxicillin is second and a third generation like Cefdinir would be an alternate choice with ampicillin allergies. Doxycycline is also used but the assessment should be made by either your dentist or your physician ## Can i take this sulfamethoxazole.tmp for a infection tooth ## Hi DeBorah, While Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is used to treat various types of infections, tooth infections is not one that is listed under the medication guidelines. How many doses does it take to treat a yeast infection at 1 in morning and 1 at night. How long does it take to clear up the yeast infection I have gotten from being on penicillin? Sorry not sure if spelled correctly, I was on that for my tooth but my body always gets them when I take them. ## This medication is manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, and they list it as containing 100mgs of Doxycycline, which is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections (NDC 53489-119). Thus, it will not help with a yeast infection, as reported by the FDA, it could also cause one, or worsen an existing one, just like the Penicillin. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. To treat a yeast infection, you...
