I had surgery in May for disc replacement in C5 and C6 and was taking 10-325mg of Norco for pain, on October 12th I had a disc replaced in L5-S1 and my surgeon put me on 10-325mg of Percocet and Valium 10mg. I have been depressed at home and went to my primary care doctor who prescribed 7.5-500mg of Lortab, I was taking the other meds 2 every 4 hours for pain and have been dropped to 1 Lortab every 4-6 hours, this is not controlling my pain, my doctor feels I have been taking the Percocet for too long, 2 months, he also took me off my Valium 10mg and changed it to Klonopin 1mg, half to 1 pill twice a day, I have been in a lot of pain for a few days now since changing dosages and feel anxious and depressed, is this acceptable or should I go talk to my surgeon again and have my meds chang...
I have just recently began a pain treatment clinic. I was prescribed hydrocodone 5mg with 325 mg acetaminophen. This is not working for me. What do I need to say to convince my Dr to change to oxycodone? ## How you tell the Dr. you want to change? That you want to change back to your old meds, pain pill. ## Just be honest with your doctor, tell them that the new medication isn't working for you, but you should do so, without asking for a specific replacement medication, let them suggest a solution, and then discuss your options from there. Oxycodone has a tendency to be addictive and is highly abused, which makes many doctors reluctant to prescribe it. It's other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Does anyone else have any advice to...
I'm looking for pain doc that will give me what my old doc did which was 30mg oxycodone (5 daily), 2mg xanax (4 daily), 10/325mg norco (6 daily). I live in okc, plz anything will help. ## Hello, Stella! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. Additionally, due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, you'll most likely need to see 2 different specialists for such medications, one for the pain and the other for the issue requiring Xanax. Why are you no longer seeing your old doctor? ## Tulsa or Muskogee pain management drs...I've had Two neck surgeries among other health issues and moving back home. I take klonopin 3/dy, hydrocodone 10/300 @ 4/day v& soma ...
Can I take a 5 mg oxycodone 2 hours after taking two hydrocodone for a bad headache? I had gallbladder surgery and think the anesthesia gave me the headache all day. ## Have they both been prescribed for you? Sometimes these medications are taken together to help improve pain control, but you should not do so on just a whim of our own, due to the risk of overdose. The FDA also warns that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications? ## I took the last of my hydrocodone 10mg and when i went to pick up my prescription my doctor switched me to 30mg of roxicodone. So now should i wait until tomorrow to start them or can i take one even though i took a hydrocodone 10mg...
I have taken Hydrocodone 10/500 for years on and off. Not dependent. The worst side effect was head itching. tolerable. I was off and recently prescribed 10/325. The itching is head to toe unbearable. I have scars from scratching. It lasts for days with very little help from Benadryl 50 mg. every 6 hours. My doctor said Oxycodone 10/325 will be better. I took it after a meal. One to two hours later I am very nauseous. 3-4 hours latter headache and intense itching. 13 hours later I still feel sick from it. When I need pain medication I need it badly. I can't suffer in bed all the time. Help please. what are my alternatives? ## Hello, Bon! How are you? There are quite a few others available, such as Opana, Dilaudid, Fentanyl and Morphine. The FDA lists all of these as being narcotic a...
Does anyone know if you can be prescribed Roxicodone and Oxycodone at the same time? ## U cant in Ky. But u can get Oxycodone & hydrocodone both. :) ## It would depend on the dosages and formulations. For instance, some could be prescribed an instant release Oxycodone for breakthrough pain and then a regular release or time released formulation for better and longer pain management. You can learn more Oxycodone details here. But it is the same medication, so you could not legally be prescribed the same dosages of the same formulation, at the same time. And as LadyM mentioned, you can be prescribed different narcotics, without issues, as long as the prescribing doctor feels that you have legitimate reasons for their writing for them. Are there any other questions? ## one is 30mgs of ...
I ran 1 1/2 day short on my oxy IR and have left over hydro from dental surgery. Is how much hydro can i take until its time for my refill ## I alternate oxycodone and loracet to manage my pain and it seems to keep my tolerance down for each drug. And as far as the dose of loracet take as prescribed because to much Tylenol is very bad on your liver. I would look at it like this use your loracet as a get me by until u can fill ur oxycodone. No more 4000mgs of Tylenol in 24 hrs. ## @Dalejrfan, Although only a doctor can legally advise you on what/how much of something you should take, the general adult dosing guidelines for Norco usually recommend 1 tablet every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. I would just encourage you to contact your local pharmacist to verify dosing instructions first. I...
I'm trying to manage pain for degenerative stenosis and see that hydrocodone is usually in 5 or 10 mg pills, while oxy, which is supposedly 2+ times stronger, is in 20 , 30 or 40 mg pills. What am I missing here? ## Originally, since it has the Acetaminophen added, the Hydrocodone products, such as Vicodin, Lortab and etc. were meant to be only for short-term use. Just to treat pain that was expected to resolve in a week or two, such as what someone may experience after they've had surgery or been in an accident. Currently, the government is trying to transition it back to being used this way, by restricting how much doctors can prescribe and for how long, though they haven't completely managed to do so, yet. (This would be the same as the original intent for Percocet, which...
is there a such a thing as a thirty milligram hydrocodone ## Not in any of the standard prescription formulations, the only way someone would get this is if their doctor ordered it and they had them made from a special compounding pharmacy, then it would be a capsule. The standard dose of Hydrocodone by itself only goes up to 5mgs and in tablets with Acetaminophen, it is available in up to 10mgs. Are there any other questions? ## you can get hydrocodone in 15 and 30mgs its a little blue pill ## sorry thats oxycodone 15 and 30s ## I was just PRESCRIBED THIS INFO FROM MY DR AND I HAD IT MADE AT A SEPCIALTY PHARMACY TOOK THEM 4 HOURS AND IT IS IN A CLEAR CAPSULE AND IT IS 30 MG OF STRAIGHT HYDROCODONE NOT TYLENOL OR ANY ADDITIONS:-) IT IS A BLUE POWDER AND IT WORKS GREAT FOR MY PAIN WITH N...
The Drug Enforcement Agency is making it very hard on doctors to prescribe pain medicine such as oxycodone, oxycontin, percocet and even hydrocodone. They have set new rules that go into effect May of 2016, that's this month. Unless you have a serious condition and have been on these meds for the treatment of your pain it will no longer be easy peasy getting the appropriate pain relief you need from a general practitioner... If you have sciatica with burning down the legs into the feet I suggest seeing a neurologist to treat your pain... Avoid a pain management clinic for now (until the dust settles from the new rules) if that's you I described.. A neurologist will order a emg, mri, and even a CT Scan. These will show your issues and justify a slow moderate increase in your pref...
What are the side effects from mixing hydrocodone acetaminophen 5 325 with oxycodone acetaminophen 5 325? ## I have mixed both but not taken at the same time a few hrs later I may take one and I have had no side effects although I have been on both medications for years so my system maybe used to it. ## It is virtually doubling up on the same medication, so you really should stick with one or the other. Mixing them creates a much easier risk of overdosing, either on the narcotics or the Acetaminophen. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor prescribed them both? ## What is it exactly aectehicmine codine syrup what is it for
I was prescribed hydrocodone for a pinched nerve in my neck. I will have to take it awhile because my health insurance is insisting I undergo less invasive treatment before having the surgery my doctor recommends. Anyway, the first prescription I filled was for 5/325, an all white pill with an M marking. I was able to take those without problem. The second prescription I filled was white with red specks (same strength). About a half an hour after I took one of these pills, I started feeling ill. My heart was pounding and I had chest pains. Then I developed a mild case of hives. I notified my doctor and he switched me to oxycodone which was just too strong. I reported this and he rewrote for hydrocodone. I returned the oxycodone to the pharmacy as I had done with the white and red hydroc...
I live in Omaha, Nebraska. Does anyone know of a doctor locally here I can go to and easily get pain medications (hydrocodone and oxycodone)? I have lower back pain and knee pain from my profession. ## Did anyone ever give you the name of. Good doc? Been looking for one for quite some time and I get turned down with legitimate records ! ## I have just moved to Tekamah, Nebraska from Indiana. I have chronic pain in my left knee and am in severe pain...have had 9 surgeries and they won't give me a new knee... currently on gabapentin 300mg but it's doing nothing... Indiana stopped giving me my pain meds... do any docs give pain meds here in Nebraska? ## I know it is more difficult nowdays to get pain meds scripted but honestly I have never had any trouble getting a fair amount of m...
I have 3 forms of breast cancer plus cervical cancer in 2011. since I had the chemo/radiation I have suffered from severe bone pain. I have taken vitamins, tramadol, oxycodone, hydrocodone and several others and they do not work. I regular physician is unable to prescribe stronger pains medication. I have gone to specialists and they do not know what is causing the severe bone pain. And the Doctors do not know who I should go to and what to do for me. I have insurance through the state which is a HMO, so I have to call ahead for approval. I would like to know what kind of Doctor to go to for stronger pain medication and can help find out the cause. ## Cheryl when was your last ct scan? sounds like they need to check your bone marrow.and maybe go to a mineral metabolism doc. the chemo an...
Hello, I was just prescribed by my pain doctor oxycodone 30 mg imm rel tab I get 90 pills every 2 weeks cause I have bulging disc in my neck C3-C6. This is my 5th different med I have taken I have been switched so many times trying to find something stronger that will relieve my pain. I have had 3 different neck procedures going on my 4th procedure in 2 weeks. Here is my question - I was told that this medication is 2x stronger then the one I was previously on which was hydrocodone 15mg rel tab however, this new medication doesn't feel stronger if anything I am getting sick off of it vomiting all the time and always sleepy on it as oppose to my previous medication which would relieve the pain but it would sometimes take 3 all at once to kick in crazy I know but true. Granted I just ...
Hi I am trying to find a doctor in the Rochester, NY area that will prescribe hydrocodone or oxycodone. I am even willing to travel to Buffalo area, that is how hard it is to find a doctor that just doesn't want to give you a bunch of shots that don't work. I have been on opiates for 15 years. I just recently left my pain doctor that was prescribing me fentanyl. I asked to be switched to something not as strong and an oral medication. I hated the patches. She refused and wrote me for a month and told me to find a different doctor. Now I am in a pain management setting that will only do inj's., I just want to be pain free and be able to play with my daughter again. I feel horrible when she asks when my back is going to be fixed. She is only 5 so she doesn't understand. I ...
I have dealt with chronic pain for years (2002). I have been meticulous about taking meds as prescribed, believing my PA wouldn't steer me wrong. For 8 years, I took 10/325 hydrocodone, six times a day.. It damn near killed me-not the opiate, but the Tylenol-1950 mgs a day. i changed doctors so I could get opiates w/o all the clutter of Tylenol. I was worried I would become a drooling junkie, waiting to rob a drug store. My new doctor started me on 15 mg Oxycodone (breakthrough) and two 60 mg Oxycontin; eventually increased to three 30 mg Oxycodone and three 60 mg time release Oxycontin. I've gone through a spinal cord stimulator implant, which has helped. I've been on same dose of meds since the implant in 2011. I make it work. sure, sometimes it would be nice to take an extra
Filed under HydrocodoneI have documentation that I was on these meds before. I was on 30mg oxycodone 3x daily, 10mg hydrocodone 4x daily, 30mg adderall twice daily, and 2mg Xanax 4x daily. My doctor was just getting too expensive, does anyone know any doctor around the chicago area that is easy going when it comes to prescribing meds? Thanks so much I just don't want to see a doctor and just walk out with ibuprofen for example. Thanks ## Hello, Mike! How are you? There are no doctors that are easy going about prescribing such medications, anymore. New regulations were put in place last year, which they must abide by, or they risk losing their license to practice medicine. If you require these medications on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see specialists to ...
The DOT physical Doctor would not approve my physical because I was being prescribed Hydrocodone 5 mg. I had to get a statement from my regular Dr. saying I would not be prescribed that medicine any more. I was taking the medicine for reumetoid arthuritis. Does anyone know anything about this new law? ## Not sure if you drive a city bus, school bus etc... or if it even matters. I drove a school bus for 14 years and during that time frame I'd had 8 out of 13 surgeries, in which the last two was on my back, lumbar region. After the first back surgery I was put on 5mg oxycodone for break through pain and MS Contin, Dilaudid and a few others trying to find what helped the best for relief. I also was required to get a yearly physical and random drug / alcohol evaluation throughout the sc...
