meds for calming; aids in sleeping ## It has been recommended that my son start using Trypolene for managing emotional thresholds. Before considering this option, I would like to know more about this drug, though I can not find information in the net about this drug. Does it have a different name? Could someone please point me in the right direction for research. ## This is a brand name for the medication Amitriptyline, which is an antidepressant, that is also used to treat insomnia, other mood disorders, and some forms of nerve pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?
My extremely energetic dog takes Trazodone for calming. Recently the pharmacy refilled with a different manufacter pill which was slightly smaller and made by Zydus. The original RX was manufactured by TEVA. The effects were not the same....the dog was still bouncing off the walls after giving same dosage. I question the pharmacist who told me "it's just what they send us" and "it's the same drug". I disagree. Any info or comments? ## Hello Susan, Both of you are correct. The different manufacturers sell a drug that has the same quality and dosage of the same active ingredient as your pharmacist says, however, this does not mean that all of the inactive igredients are the same between the pills. The inactive ingredients in the medicine is just as important and im...
I've been prescribed Azor 0,25 as a calming tablet labelled one a day. I'm breastfeeding a 10 month old boy. I am anxious all most all the time, not sleeping well so last week my Dr prescribed me melotonin 6mg for night and thiamine for in the morning because of panic attacks. My memory is foggy, I have very little energy and might be depressed. Will this Azor / combination of things help and is it ok while breastfeeding ? It's 0,25g a white pill. Can it be split? ## It can be cut, but taking it while breastfeeding may cause sedation for your baby, according to U.S. FDA reports. They also warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you ...
Hi friends, I started Brintellix a week ago and I really like the calming effects..but I have been totally constipated for 4 days and it's crazy? I know that constipation is the #1 side effrect for brintellix, but does anyone have any experience with the constipation going away after awhile/ I'd love to stay on this if I could..thanks! ## Hello, Daveboy! How are you? Typically, side effects tend to improve once your body gets used to a medication, which is around 4 weeks in, or so. However, in the meantime, you may want to speak to your doctor about taking a fiber supplement or something else you can use to alleviate the constipation. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can h...
Along with relieving pain after I take it I have always gotten a very calming and "normal, natural" feeling. I don't mean a doped up "jacked up" feeling like Amphetamines or anything like that. I'm not as depressed feeling. Since I'm also being treated with Agoraphobic Depression I am yearning to feeling normal/natural again like I feel with this med. My question is, is there an ingredient in it (Hydromorphone) that is also in an over the counter supplement that will help w/ feeling normal and happy? Like St. Johns Wort I've heard so much about?..seeing this written out sounds like I could just as well wish upon a star.. in other words, "hell no there isn't"... ## Hello, Lalee! How are you? You're right, but I'll be more polite in my w...

Most pharmacies sell watson or actavis lorazepam in my area (LA), but I had serious side effects with no calming effect from watson so I returned to Rite Aid after taking one tablet. I heard that watson was taken over by actavis and they are manufactured at the same factory and same medicine. I used to take qualitest and that worked great but was discontinued. I also tried Mylan which was ok but they are discontinuing as they said they don't have inventory and don't know when the last batch is released. Leading pharma does not work for me, causing serious side effects. I visited or called about 30 pharmacies in my area but they only deal with leading pharma, watson and actavis. So I have no option but to try actavis, but if it's the same as watson, I think I can't take i...

My 8yo son has been issued Intuniv for his ADHD. He is on 4mg. He has been getting this pill at 7pm. I know that one of the side affects is sleeplessness. He is calming down at 3 or 4 am every day. He gets up at 7 for school. I know that this is a time release drug that extends for about 12 hours or so. Not sure why they recommend this for night time. Any one else have problems giving at night and getting to bed reasonably? Anyone switched times to see if it changes during the day time when they are active? ## @JJ, There's actually another thread here with over 40 replies that has more information on user's personal experiences with Intuniv. You can have a look by following the link below: Discuss/Intuniv-ER-and-sleepy-201455.htm It looks like the person who started that thread ...

I am prescribed 1 mg klonopins 2 times a day. Due to uncontrolled panic anxiety I've been having, I took four mgs this morning and another 4 this evening.... Now I'm finally calming down... A little late to ask but is that too many mgs in a day??? ## Dear Jubb, Yes, that was a bit much 2 take. I have anxiety and panic attacks and, I'm also on klonopin. I know there's some days when u feel u just need more. What I would do is talk 2 your Dr and let him know how u have been feeling. I was going through a tough time awhile ago, and, my Dr increased my klonopin. I know how u feel, but, u don't want 2 hurt yourself either. ## What will you do when you run out? Taking 8 is way too much. I found Klonopin zots me out more than Xanax. The problem when you take extra is you mi...
Does Xanax make you not care about (or love) things and people in your life anymore when used over an extended period of time? ## Xanax will change your entire way of life while calming you down. It is a very effective medicine that comes with a dark side of dependence and withdrawal ## Yes, as Eddy has stated, it can cause such things, in some people that take it. According to the NIH, that can happen to some people with most anxiety medications and antidepressants. It also carries the risk of being habit forming and a sudden abrupt withdrawal can create the risk of seizures, according to the FDA. If it is becoming a real problem for you, you should inform your doctor, as you may need to try a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with?
BLUE ## gg258 is Xanax, im pretty sure its like, 1 mg....MAYBE 2, but id count on just 1...if youve never taken them before, (depending on how much you take, you kinda get high,) but they are for anxiety...calming your nerves and stuff ## This tablet is manufactured by Sandoz Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 2mgs of Alprazolam, which is a generic for Xanax. It is a benzodiazepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety, and nervous disorders. From what I can find, however, they no longer manufacture this particular one, but it's hard to say if that might change, at any given time. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The GG25...
Why has heminevrin been outlawed in the treatment of chronic alcoholics? It was used successfully in the detoxing process and lowered the rates of fits and tremors. Could it possibly be that it had a very soothing and calming effect and the medical bodies feel that patients especially wanton alcoholics are not fit or deserving of a pleasant detox regimen? ## I was prescribed heminevrin (192mg) for sleeping and it was very effective....until it was stopped. As usual, anything helpful and supportive gets the FDA boot and the patient is left to suffer.
I need the best over the counter meds available as an alternative to hydroxyzine hcl. They say zyrtec, benadryl & bonine are good substitutes? Plz verify. Are there any others? I'm looking for a calming effect. ## The most calming of those choices would be the Benadryl, which is also available as a generic, but you should only take it if your doctor agrees that it is safe for you. It can also cause drowsiness and dizziness as a side effect, according to NIH reports. Is there anything else I can help with?

My local pharmacy recently changed from Qualitest lorazepam to Actavis (Watson). So I have to transfer. Most pharmacies here sell Leading Pharma or Actavis. I have an adverse reaction from Watson lorazepam (serious side effects with no calming effect). I used to take Ativan but it is too expensive to continue (I took it when I was abroad and from Kaiser in the U.S. but Kaiser changed it to generic Qualitest lorazepam). I do not use Kaiser insurance anymore. Qualitest is milder than Ativan in terms of effect, like 50%-60% of Ativan, but less dehydrated and OK considering it is generic. Ativan is $2600 for 1mg 30ea in cash. Besides, most insurance does not cover it or do not want to pay for it by forcing doctors to prescribe generic lorazepam instead. If you guys take Qualitest, could you...
