Does contact dermatitis ever go away completely. I have used the .05 percent cream. It subsided while I was using it but came right back even after a refill tube. Is the next step to use the .12 percent cream ## Hi, Linda! Sorry about the problem that you're having. I get it too, so I know it can be quite annoying. Contact dermatitis is actually caused by an allergic reaction to something, so they only way to get it to go away permanently would be to discover what substance or substances are causing the allergic reaction and avoid them in the future. Have you visited an allergist/immunologist? They can usually test you for various substances that you may commonly be exposed to in order to figure out what the triggers may be.

Friend gave it to me to use for my son's poison ivy does it work? ## Betamethasone dipropionate cream is a topical corticosteroid that is commonly used for treating allergic reactions to poison ivy and other similar plants. It works by depressing the formation, release, and activity of different cells and chemicals that cause swelling, redness, and itching. I suppose it might work differently for everyone, but in the event that it doesn't work as well as intended, you may want to consider some natural options. i need to know what this medication is for ## Hi cris, In english this is called Loratadine and Betamethasone. Loratadine is used to temporarily relieve the symptoms of hay fever (allergy to pollen, dust, or other substances in the air) and other allergies. It is also used to treat itching and redness caused by hives. Betamethasone is a potent glucocorticoid steroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It is used to treat the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions. Can I use this for poison ivy? My daughter has it prescribed for her excrma. I am desperate with all the itchy from the poison ivy. Is it safe to use? Will it work? ## Hello, Gert! How are you? If it is prescribed for you daughter, you shouldn't use. You should see your doctor to get something prescribed for you. Betamethasone is a steroid and while it can help with allergic reactions, such as poison ivy, it could also make some skin conditions worse, so if you don't actually have poison ivy, you could be putting yourself at risk. You also don't need to antibiotic that it contains, that won't do anything for an allergic reaction. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, are usually related to its topical use and may include skin irritation, redness, burning, discolora...

Why can't patients under 17 use it? What harm could a topical steroid really cause? ## Hello, Mygirlz! How are you? There are actually several reasons and they vary by the age of the pediatric patient. For instance, in children under 12, there have been cases where they absorbed too much of it, due to their smaller body mass to skin ratio and suffered dangerous toxicity, this may also apply to those from 13 to 17.
