i WAS PRESCRIBED FLAGYL ONCE AND STILL HAVE SOME AND NEED IT BUT ITS EXPIRED, WILL IT HURT ME BEING EXPIRED? ## I was prescribed flagyl once and still have some and I need it...will it hurt me to take it being expired? ## This isn't a medication that gets dangerous, once it's expired, there are very few that do. However, it does start to lose effectiveness, so it most likely won't work as well as it did when new. If you have an old medication and aren't sure about its safety and efficacy, the best thing to do is to properly dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription. Are there any questions or comments? ## Hello, I have the same symptoms as I did 5 years ago. Extreme abdominal pain. I have a bottle of 250 mg Metronidazole. It was dispensed in 2013. I see no...

So she decided to let me take falgyl now in my fourth month of pregnancy (my second trimister). Now that i am taking it i often feel a lower left abdominal pain. Is it because of the medicine i took? or it is just a round ligament pain? Thank you

I took flagyl for 4 days after a bad reaction (stomach pain, mucus in bowel movements) to Ceftin. I was supposed to take the flagyl for 7 days but couldn't tolerate the nausea, etc. It has been a week since I stopped the Flagyl and my symptoms from the Ceftin are returning. Is there anything over the counter I can take to remedy this? I don't want to take the flagyl again if I can help it. ## Since Flagyl is a nitroimidazole antibiotic medication used particularly for anaerobic bacteria and protozoa; I would think for the symptoms you described, that supplementing with probiotics, digestive enzymes, and oil of oregano would be a good alternative approach. Wild oregano is rich in a long list of minerals that includes calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium, copper, boron, and m...

Hi, I had a yeast and bacterial infection and was told by my doctor to take flagyl comp for 10 days. I don't know if it will affect my period because it has never been missed before. My period came two days after it was delayed, but with much pain and it didn't flow well either. I don't know if I might be pregnant? ## Antibiotics can cause you to experience a longer cycle, in other words a delay to the start of your period, according to NIH reports. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications? Did you try a pregnancy test? ## My menstrual cycle is on the 2nd of May but I am having pains without any flow. Can Flagyl help my period flow regularly?

Nearing end of prescribed course after wisdom tooth extraction, now feeling extremely ill last 3days progressing to aching joints all over body and the rib area barely touchable due to same bone like pain, metallic taste, numbness and pins and needles in arms hands, lower legs and feet, speech slightly slurred (thought this was due getting the two teeth removed leaving large gap) and tip of tongue very sore but no furring or signs of thrush inside the mouth, runny stools and skin above one wrist now very red and inflamed and starting to bruise. This 43yr old has had stomach cancer previously and had radiation treatment, don't know if this is significant, but says this is way he felt before being diagnosed, same awful joint and rib pain. I know from reading that flagyl causes cancer ...

After 6 Flagyl tablets of 500mg the Dentist said the medication was no longer necessary and two days later having consumed some wine (when you should stay away from it for 3 days) an acute back pain developed and continued each day by getting worse. It spread to my left thigh, speculating sciatica. Fortunately, my wife prescribed a homeopathic remedy of Arnica and Hypericum; Thereafter, the Homeopath prescribed Rhus Tox. With Rhus Tox 30C the leg pain disappeared within the day while the back pain continued to lessen each day alternating between Rhus Tox and Hypericum combined with Arnica and it took about two weeks for complete relief which was sought through homeopathy. The effects of Flagy is diabolical. Don't ever take it; it causes more problems than it cures.

I took 12 flagyl tablets and I didn't know that I was pregnant but I was suspecting it because my breasts were itching. I took the first test and it was negative and I took the second one and it was positive. The reason why I took flagyl is because my uterus was very sore, so I was wondering if it would hurt my unborn child? ## Hello, Sliroro! How are you? Congratulations on the pregnancy! I am almost twenty years old. I just had a d&c and was prescribed this for a vaginal bacteria infection. I have had severe stomach and back pain that feels like I'm being stabbed. I figured that it was due to the fact that I had my operation three days ago and had an IUD put in. Is it from the drug? I have a panic disorder and am terrified of taking pills. So far I have toughed it out and taken twelve pills out of my twenty-eight pill prescription. I have four days left on it: they are making me take two pills, twice daily (so 4 a day). I am scared of having seizures so I looked up forrums for reassurance: only to find all of these negative comments. Mine says APO brand- not flagyl on it; does this make a difference? ## Have you consulted your doctor? This medication contains th...

I'm finishing a 7 day, 3 X a day, 500 mg dose of flagyl/metronidazole because I was having pain under the right side of my ribs, abdominal tenderness and I have a lump on the right side of my back which the doc said was muscular. My worst symptoms of the meds were some unsteadiness and abdominal pains (I didn't call my Dr.), now I'm having a few headaches. Does it cause brain cancer, because I read it is carcinogenic? ## If it did cause such an issue, it would not occur that fast. Cancer is generally slow growing. It is most likely just due to the side effects of the medication, which the FDA does list as including headaches, along with nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and stomach pain. However, it never hurts to have such an issue checked out by your doctor to be sure. Are you ...

I tool Levaquin and Flagyl to fight diverticulitis on three different occasions within a two month period. I developed severe muscle pain and weakness in my legs, hands, and arms along with joint pain in my knees, ankles, and fingers. I was unable to get up out of a chair and could barely walk. I ached horribly just trying to turn over in bed. This drug is absolute poison. I finally put it all together and called my doctor who immediately took me off Levaquin. I was so worried that I would not recover. I have been off Levaquin now for four days and the improvement is remarkable. I am far from my normal self but I am hopeful that I will make a full recovery eventually. I advise everyone to avoid this drug like the plague. This is an awful medication and causes serious damage. ## I know i...

I switched to Pristiq Aug 2012 after being on Prozac which seemed to stopped helping me with depression. Two months later I developed a severe large intestine bleed accompanied with severe pain. After a CT which found inflammation I was put on Flagyl and Cipro. I developed diarrhea and was gettting worse instead of better after 4 days and was hospitalized. A cdiff culture came back positive which was probably non active until I was put on the antibiotics. (was on effexor not Pristiq in hospital) I was released and sent home (back on Pristiq). Three days later the bleeding started again and I was put back in the hospital. Cdiff negative this time. A colonoscopy showed non specific inflammation (no polyps etc.). (on effexor) Relased again and on flagyl for 10 more days. When the flagyl ra...
