I am taking Olmat 40h + Embeta 100mg in the morning as well as Olmat 40mg in the evening + Atorva 5mg at night. My blood pressure is 140/90 in the morning and 160/90 in the evening. Would I have to take these medications for life? What are their side effects? I am 63 years old. ## You may have to take them for the rest of your life, to keep your blood pressure under control. However, if it does come down to normal levels, you may be able to reduce how many you are taking, or lower their dosages, in the future. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is it ok to break 80 mg tablets in half to acheive 40mg dose? ## Of course it is! You would be far better and cheaper if you were to buy a good generic atorvastatin though, as Lipitor is exceedingly overpriced. 80mg is a HUGE dosage of atorvastatin, and is equivalent in potency to almost 160mg Simvastatin, which many consider the superior statin. Have you recently suffered a stroke or myocardial infarction? ## It is okay to do so, as long as the medication is not time released, and your doctor approves. My cardiologist often prescribes some of my medications in a higher dosage, so I can cut them in half, since it is often cheaper that way. my mother has recently been detected with medium BP 160/90, thought she never had any history of BP, my doctor said that though no symptoms are there but the side effect of BP would be more, hence he recommended telsartan 40 mg active, i am going for one more testing and later would start with medicine, any body please put some more light on this ## hi kiran here again from Bangalore, Karnataka State, India.
