I have been on 20 mg amphetamine salts 4 x a day for over 3 yrs. I think I need my dose increased to 30 mg 4 x day . I've been wanting to discuss this with my doctor for a while now but something else is always wrong and I've been forgetting everything again if I don't write it down!! I think I've been on the same dose too long. Doesn't it need to be increased every so often pertaining to your symptoms getting worse?? ## I can't take extended release adderall.. For several years I've taken TEVA 30mg Amphetamine Salts 2x daily with consistent positive relief. Focus and a feeling that I could have a productive day gave me a reason to get out of bed. On 8/21/2014 all that changed to nervous anxiety filled days staying home. What caused the dramatic change quickly became clear. I was given this prescription and it is made by actavis inc. I take 30mg and the manufacturer is different and the pill is a orange or peach color and round. It is smaller than the orange or peach pills that I took before. Hi, I usually take 30mg of adderal per day, in the morning. I am making a switch to amphetamine salts. They are the blue tablets, and I was wondering if anyone knows how many I wouldn't have to take to get the same effect? 30mg dosent let me sleep at night but I need close to that many mg to get me through the day. I just got a refill of 30mg tabs amphetamine salts. This month I have been switched again! I can't find any information on this particular brand - it's imprint is M A30, it's orange and round. The pharm company is Mylan I think. I have had the orange ovals (most effective and metabolized for me), the round pink (made my stomach upset), and now these. I have Celiac and just found out I have to watch the medications I take now as well. I take D-Amphetamine 30mg BID and was told by my pharmacy the manufacturer was Teva. I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD and have been prescribed Amphetamine Salts (Generic for Adderall) for a few months now. The initial dosage was one 10mg tablet/ three times a day and recently my Doctor upped the dosage to one 30mg tablet/ twice a day. I know that overall this has been very beneficial for me but I cant help but wonder if the generic brand (IR Amphetamine Salts) has less of the active ingredient, and more unnecessary side effects(irritability, fatigue). Why mix amphetamine & dextroamphetamine as ingredients? ## According to Standford Medicine, Adderall's duration of action lasts for around 6 hours. They go on to state that the extended release version lasts for 10-12 hours. Source: stanford.edu/medications/adderall.html Additionally, Adderall's peak effects reportedly take place within 1-3 hours - but I'd imagine this figure would vary for each individual. As to your second question, I don't know why they would mix the two different types of amphetamine salts. I am relatively new to the Adderall treatment process. This is my 3rd month trying to find the right dosage. Initially, my Dr put me on 20mg XR but I couldn't really tell that I took anything. We then moved to 20mg IR twice-day. CVS gave me (20mg Amphetamine Salts by Sandoz). We made some progress with this move but still didn't get me to where I wanted to be. Now, I'm on 30mg IR twice-day but CVS gave me (Dextroamp-Amphetamin by Alvogen). Yes, the Rx is spelled just like that. Makes me wonder what they really gave me?? Also, I can't find a lot of information on this particular Rx from the manufacturer. I've been taking Amphetamine Salts 30mg for about 2 years, this had been great for the depression but it sur- pressed my appetite and effected my taste buds so drastically, I had no interest in food whatsoever. Then my physician suggested concerta ER, but that didn't seem to do much for my depression. ## Well neither of them are actual antidepressants, they are actually stimulant medications that are normally used to treat conditions such as ADHD and narcolepsy. So, it's normal for them to cause appetite suppression, but they don't usually help much with depression, because they can cause irritability, so that will actually backfire in some people. I am: female, age 30, 'overweight', tobacco smoker, and have been taking 30mg amphetamine salts twice a day for several months. I'm having several weird symptoms. My tongue is white pretty much all the time and a couple times a month taste buds around the tip of my tongue will become red and VERY painful. It is not thrush.
