Need prescription for adderal and psych evaluation ## Ya know. I may answer my own question. As a Canadian, I know Canadian and Hispanic doctors are trained to work in every aspect of medicine. So, they are classified as general practioners, but are able to deliver babies and medicate the elderly. So, stuck in California with a system that funds only narcotic opiates and benzodiazepines for the mentally indigent, I am seeking a Hispanic or Canadian GP for my adderral. Clearly, adderral is amphetamines. F### what you think. The true ADHD, as myself, stutter post ingestion of adds. Anyway, I found a Hispanic GP in Compton. He treats geriatric, pediatric, and delivers babies. I believe I will be successful in continuing my current prescription of 35 years. I will post his information after...

I just moved here and have a doctor who is giving me xanax for anxiety. I believe the anxiety is caused from ADHD my daughter has ADHD and we have a lot of the same symptoms. My doctor won't even evaluate me for it. Need a new doctor ## Hi Lulu! Yes, u need a NEW doctor who will diognose u and treat u. My son had ADHD, and , he went through a series of tests. And, was diagnosed with ADHD and put medication. 4 it. It worked wonders. ## Hello, Lulu! How are you? What you need to know is that such a diagnosis and treatment will need to come from a specialist, now. There were new regulations put in place last year that require specialists handle this type of thing. Thus, rather than a new PCP, you need to ask them to refer you to someone that can evaluate you for it. Can anyone recommen...

I recently read an article about a trial on the use of this drug in a pediatric form on children with ADHD. I am interested in hearing more information on this to treat my child who has adhd. It is said to not be a methamphedimine like adderall, Ritalin, or concerta; which my child has taken and which i am not pleased with the reactions and side effects of which he has suffered. Any information would be appreciated. ## I have adult ADD (non-hyperactive). I used cylert (pemoline). I tried this drug once when they were canceling cylert for a possible alternative. At the time, it was not generic, so very expensive. Pros: not as addictive-forming as Ritalin. Cons: the price (depending on whether its now generic and/or your insurance). Also, I didn't think it helped much. It makes you ha...

Can lexamil help for ADHD in adult female? ## No, this is an antidepressant, so it is not usually used to treat such conditions. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight gain. Did your doctor prescribe this for you?

My 6yr old son was recently diagnosed with ADHD and ODD (oppositional defiance disorder) I am unsure whether to try meds for it as they are so strong and classed as stimulants and he is so young but his behaviour is negatively impacting on all areas of his life. Can people please share their experiences of using ADHD or ODD meds? Or do you know of anything else that would help him. I just want him to be the best person he can be. I have tried behaviour management with limited success and he won't co-operate with seeing a psych. He doesn't co-operate at school or home. ## If your son truly has ADD or ADHD then putting him on medication is really the best option. I have Adult ADD and have experienced a significant impact on my life when I am not on the medication. There are many d...

3 days ago, I finally decided to make an appt with a psychiatrist to finally discuss my issues. I am a very sound, intelligent wife/mother of 2 children ages between 15-20. I feel that I am VERY normal and have no 'mental' issues. What I felt that pushed me to finally go see a doctor and finally accept help: I'm an organic, all natural mother. My son was diagnosed with ADHD many years ago. I was against the system of giving drugs, so we omitted all foods that contained anything unnatural, food colorings, corn starch, high fructose syrup, etc. We joined Feingold.org, which is the BEST decision ANYONE can make. These food companies are purposely hurting us and forcing us to resort to meds to help counter what they are doing to our minds and body. This worked for many years, an...

Are the prodrugs (successfully superior) to ordinary mixed Amphet. Salts Combos. (Immediate release) vyvance patches, long acting 12 h better in the long run? I have far better control with taking them am and 12 noon. Otherwise, sleepiness interruption. ## There is really no way to say one drug is better than another, because we are all different, so what works well for one person, might not work at all for you, and vice-versa. ADHD information What medication have you been prescribed, and how is it working? The FDA warns that most stimulant medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as headache, anorexia, nervousness, and insomnia.

And possibly may need ritalin-- how does one go about being tested for adult ADD or ADHD and figuring out the treatment for it? I have trouble finishing projects and tasks; my focus is off in some way that makes me think tht perhaps this has always been a problem for me. I realize that no one will prescribe Ritalin without a diagnosis, but what if one sincerely thinks one may have this illness? I don't want to be considered a "drug seeker." My life would become so much easier if I could focus on the work I need to do. Thanks... ## Hi Melinda, I completely understand what you're going through. I have dealt with ADD as a child and still suffer as an adult. I've tried medication and I found that in time, it did more harm to my body than good. I've learned that the b...

I am an adult that has recently started a college class online and I haveingba very hard time oncentrating and keeping things in order. I am also procrastinating and then fining it hard to concentrate on reading and remember what I read. My mind wanders horribly. I am embarrassed tonjust gonask anyone. ## Hello Josh! How are you doing and how is the class going? You haven't already been diagnosed as having ADHD? You can't just go to a doctor, declare that you have it, and ask for a specific medication to treat it. You need to consult a doctor first, so they can work with you to get a diagnosis, if there is something wrong, and then discuss your treatment options. Sometimes there are other factors at play, it isn't always ADHD. You can learn more about ADHD here. As to Addera...

My adult daughter is displaying increased agitation and anger since she is on Vyvance. She has been off it for 2 or 3 days and is feeling horrible. I do not think she ever had ADD or ADHD when the doc prescribed the med. I feel she has been displaying symptoms of ADHD - confusion, irritation, hyperactivity, impulsiveness, etc, since being on the Vyvance. Has anyone had similar experiences?? ## Vyvanse contains the active ingredient Lisdexamfetamine, so it is a stimulant, commonly used to treat ADHD and Narcolepsy. However, these can be side effect for some people, even if they do have ADHD. It can cause: insomnia, irritabillity, agression and nervousness. There are non-stimulant options available that may be better for her. Has she spoken to her doctor about these issues? You can read m...

Does anyone have experience of being treated with Dilantin for anxiety/depression/ADHD symptoms ? If so, could you advise me on dosage - Thanks ## Hope things have gotten better since you posted this. I have depression and anxiety as was adult ADD. I take patil. 10mg of Ativan as needed for the anxiety and to help me sleep when I can't calm my mind, and also Ritalin 10mg 2 times a day. The Ritalin being added really made a difference. I am not wanting to stay in bed. It has helped with my productivity and has helped me focus at work. I know this will not work for everyone but it sure did for me. ## I have taken Dilantin since I was 9 months old, then all kinds of drugs. Does anyone else have feedback after 10 years of Dilantin?

New to the area and looking for a doctor who won't be a pain about prescribing Ritalin or Adderall for adult ADHD. ## Well, the best thing you can do is to make an appointment with a new doctor and not ask for any particular medication up front. You need to get in for an appointment first and then discuss your treatment options. However, since these are controlled substance medications, doctors do have to be careful about prescribing them, so you aren't going to find a doctor that will just be carefree and throw prescriptions at you. Learn more Ritalin details here. Learn more Adderall details here. Does anyone know of a doctor in this area that they can recommend? ## Looking for dr. in NE Indiana that prescribes Ritalin/adderall without doing pharmacy checks, and doesnt give yo...

Okay I had ADHD as a child and was prescribed Dextroamphetamine 5mg I would take 3 pills in the morning and 2 in the Afternoon. Followed by Catapress to sleep in the evening. Leading up into early adult hood I was still using and become addicted to Dextroamphetamine. Years of Abuse of this Drug resulted in Depression and Drug induced psychosis. I believe the use of this drug damage receptors in the brain. I do not take amphetamine anymore but I have been prescribed prozac I have been taking 20mg daily now for 4 months and my depression is near non existent. I can only take prozac in the morning as it gives me a very large energy boost, if I was too take it at night I would not sleep. If I become burnt out or unable to relax I am given a short term dose of Tamaze to use when needed only on

So, to be short and sweet, I was diagnosed with hypersomnia (excessive daytime sleepiness) and adult ADD. Provigil did not help with the hypersomnia, so new doc (referred to psychiatrist) started adderall prescription of 20 mg XR once a day. She also gave me a future prescription for 30 days later. It was just a few days later when I emailed her to say that this clearly wasn't licking both conditions. She required me to come in for a formal appointment to discuss it. She prescribed 20mgXR twice a day also including a future prescription for 30 days later. I communicated with doctor via email and told her once again that both conditions weren't responding as well as we are hoping. Here she again upped my dose to 30mg XR twice a day along with a future prescription for 30 days lat...

I am an adult female who does not have ADHD or ADD. I just wanted to lose 20lbs. My Doctor prescribed IC AMPHETAMINE SALTS 20 MG TABLET 2 times a day. I have no health problems. 1st pill I took made me jittery and a little dizzy. So now I am starting out with half a tablet once a day because I do drink an energy drink that is actually healthy for you and does not make you jittery or crash like most energy drinks do. My question is : Is this safe for me to take for 2 to 3 months? After reading all the side effects, it is scary. I am having a hard time losing weight since I had my son. I had him when I was 42yrs. old and I have never had a weight problem. This extra 20lbs is putting me in a depression but I am afraid of the side effects. I have only taken this pill 3 days. What do you rec...

pot. changing ADD med./Adult ## I've been diagnosed with ADHD for several years now and and been on Adderall and Ritalin. I didn't think the Adderall was very effective so I switched but after a few months on the Ritalin I'm beginning to think it might be to intense for me. My friend is on Vyvanse and she says it's the best medication she's taken for ADHD, so I would just like to know your thoughts. ## Just to add some information or anyone else seeking… Any time you're trying to treat a medical condition, it can be a matter of trial and error to find a medication that works for the person, without causing unwanted problematic side effects. Some people get lucky with the first one they try, but there are others that may need to try several diffe...

Hello, I am on adderall XR for adult ADHD and fatigue due to fibromyalgia and RSD and COmplex regional pain syndrome....how does it compare in strength for fatigue concentration compare to Vyvanse as Vyvanse is the prodrug of D-amphetimine& a single enantimoer vs mixed such as adderall? thank you very much for any feedback! ## Vyvanse is roughly 1/3 as strong as Adderall so 30-40mg is about equal 10mg Adderall. Vyvanse is perhaps gentler and smoother than Adderall. Best, David

I'm a 21 year old female adult who has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. My brother, father, and boyfriend have it so I'm pretty familiar with the topic by now, though I am definitely still learning. My boyfriend and brother both take Adderall XR, which I have tried a couple times. I have found the drug to be very beneficial for me and am more informed on how that works. I would also just like to say, that no, I'm not an addict or just trying to abuse the drug. I do have an actual, verified issue that requires medication. The first prescription I received was Straterra, which really just made me exhausted, really dizzy, and depressed. It also did nothing for my poor attention. So needless to say, I asked for something else. I was recently just switched to Cor 135 20 mg (Tha...
