Accutane Joint Pain
11 Topics FoundI am a 60 year old male who has had acne for 40 years. Eventually, after many years, my doctor sent me to a dermatologist. She prescribed 60mg a day and, after 6 weeks, I feel like a zombie! Aches, pains - I feel my age. Anyone else out there who takes this at my age? ## I would stop Accutane! You do understand that Accutane is a Chemo drug....If you delt with Acne for 40yrs then I would suggest you find others ways that are safer. There are teens and young people like me who now have joints and bones of that of a 60yr old due to this poison. What have you tried in the last 40yrs for your acne? ## I am a 52 year old women who has been on accutane for 1 month. I had severe acne and severe oily skin since I was 13 years old. I am thrilled so far with the results with accutane. I am having...
I am only two weeks into accutane (absorica) only on 20 mg. I am thinking of getting a tattoo within the next couple of days. is it safe to get one that soon into the treatment? ## Hello, Katie! How are you? You shouldn't have any tattoos done, while taking Accutane. It can interfere with healing and increase the risk of your developing severe scar tissue, which could mess up a tattoo. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of Accutane as possibly including nausea, joint pain, skin infection, skin rash, nosebleeds and blurred vision. Is there anything else I can help with?
My son who is now 20 took Accutane for the first time when he was 16 but had a seizure in the 2nd month. He, of course, was taken off and they said it was most likely not connected. At the age of 19 he started with Accutane again. In the 5th month he started having severe joint pain so he stopped again (his face was cleared). Within 6 months we noticed our son being more withdrawn from friends but also had rage outburst. We associated it with college and their pressures. We did however start getting phone calls from his roommates saying he was very alone, talked of depression and had extreme mood swings with explosive rage outburst. Since summer break was coming up we got him in counseling and was also started on an antidepressant. We witnessed his rage first hand and it scared my whole...
I had taken Sotret, 30 mg for 2 months back in 2010. without much problem I developed back pain in 2012. In winters I developed elbow and knee pain as well. Back pain went away with exercise and elbow and knee pain went away with summers. Now I am living in Bangalore, thus havent exposed to winters for a year. I have no problem in others joints at all. My question is that can these symptoms which emerged much later than my dosage(tht too very less) can be the reason for such achy (just elbow and knee) joint pain?? My CT scan says everything is right with my skeleton system. ## Just to add. I have other problem. My head hairs are strong, body hairs are few. No stomach problem as such. Nothing as such at all. About from mild depression in 2013.
I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marke...
I took accutane in the early 90's when I was in my 20's. I took all but the last "phase" of the prescription. I had no problems with it at the time. The only warning from my dermatologist was don't get pregnant. In 2009 I developed a blood disorder and autoimmune disorder. I have pain in my joints and fatigue. My husband is convinced that it is from accutane. I have had many stays in the hospital because of this. Has anyone else developed these or similar symptoms? ## Hi, yes, I have been diagnosed with multifocal motor neuropathy recently, which is believed to be autoimmune and currently has no cure. I dont know how to stop the damage. My diagnosis means the disease is progressive, and will cause severe disability. ## Sorry to hear about both your experiences coming...
Our son started taking Accutane the end of Dec, 2011. He was on it for 6 weeks. He ended up in Feb. in ER with a foot long blood clot in his groin down his leg. He had other symptoms prior to this as well. He had your normal side effects which we expected, like dry cracked lips, flushed face, more acne in first month, head itched. Then he had back pain, joint pain, (basketball player in his High school so was very active) Then he would at times feel faint when standing. He started getting really sick when his blood clot started hurting him. We didn't know what it was and went to the doc 2x for pain. This is listed as a rare serious side effect. Please be careful while taking accutane. We won't be touching it again at our house. ## I am very sorry about what happened to your son,...
I Took Accutane ore than 20 years ago...for moderate Acne. I Experienced the so called Usual Side effects...Dry Lips chapped lips and joint pain..along with severely irritated Stomach...(Sudden allergy to Diary)and other Problems I was ASSURED would subside...as soon as i stopped taking the ACCUTANE... Well....Lets just say....The effects do gradually subside....and the Acne is better. Something else I discovered is.....Slowly....The Joint pain returns...only much more severely...the Stomach problems get worse...and eventually your stomach might even begin to bleed...and feel as though it was burned by acid.. Then..Maybe you will need an x ray...for some small accident..you May have suffered...At the Young age of 24....possibly on accout of a Dizzy Spell....(Associated?...)Maybe..You fa...
I went on accutane a year and a half ago for 6 months. I was apprehensive at first as I had heard that accutane was a very strong drug, but after speaking to my dermatologist I felt calm enough to give it a try. I now see how doctors can fool you just to make money and it makes me sick. I had bad joint andmuscle pains while on it, but was told that these symptoms would disappear once I was off the medication. I have had had joint and muscle problems ever since coming off that damn drug and its now 2 years later. It was only just recently that it could as bad as it is now and I now have pain in ALL my joints. I am only 21 but I honestly feel like I am about 80. My joints constantly click and I have especially bad pain in my wrists, fingers, knees and feet. I also get muscular pains in my...
Filed under AccutaneI've finished my 22month course of 10mg/day. My doctor gave me the least dose to reduce side effects. Side effects were normal, dry skin joint pain etc. Recently I've been getting flushed very easily, several times per day on my cheeks and ears. I've finished the course 3wks ago and see improvement in terms of dryness on my lips and skin but the flushes seem to be getting worse. I've read it may take 2/3 months for accutane to get out of the body. How many more weeks till these flushes go as they make my face want to blow up with heat and its effecting me. Thanks!!
Filed under Accutanei have been on tetrecycline for 10 years then stopped over night, ever since i have aching feet, elbows and general aching feeling very old, only stopped because i was told my teeth would go grey ## Why were you taking it for so long? What you're experiencing are probably some withdrawal and rebound effects, because your body does get used to any medication that you take regularly for that long of a period of time. Learn more Tetracycline details here. It is amazing that your teeth didn't turn odd colors quite awhile, as Tetracycline is very well known to cause that. ## Have you taken an acne drug during your past. Accutane is many times the culprit of joint pain. Propionbacterium acnes is the bacteria that cause it. An Xray or MRI will not show it. I recently started takin peni...
