I was on 60mg of oxycontin 3x a day, and cuz of my insurance company had to switch to 15mg of extended release morphine.. I am very concerned about the pain or withdrawal symptoms. Anyone know if it's the same?? ## Oxycodone is actually one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so to be equivalent in pain relief, you'd need 90mgs of Morphine to match each 60mgs you were taking of Oxycontin. I have been struggling with chronic pain most of my life. I have been taking 3 60MG Extended Release Oxycontin tablets a day along with 3 30MG Oxycodone instant release for breakaway pain. After 3 years of the same dosage it's not working as well as it used to. So my doctor decided to change up the meds a bit. She gave me Morphine Sulphate 60MG ER twice a day and for the life of me I cannot feel this working. It's only been a day but usually I would have pain relief around 30-45 after taking the Oxycontin and then about 3-6 hours of relief. How is this Morphine twice a day at the same MG going to give me the same relief I was getting before AND was already struggling with hence the change to the Morphine? I don't get it, especially after everything I have read falls in line ...

My boyfriend is perscribed morphine sulfate extended release, and he is currently getting thees oblong ones (e655/60). In the bottle he found one that was just a 1/2. They are skinny and kinda soft so easily broken on accident. In the past he has gotten the wax-coated ones, and said the ER part is in the coating. In these, however, there is no coating. In a broken one- is the ER part also messed up, or is the ER mixed into the whole pill? Wanting to know if taking 1/2 of these is simply 30mg ER instead of 60mg ER. ## Hello, Ashley! How are you? No, it is not safe to take a broken tablet, because that can defeat the timed released formulation and may result in overdose. That said, he should take it to his pharmacy and tell him, they may replace it for him. I've had this happen before...

green and white capsule 60mg ## The drug is a Hydocodine. It is a very potent pill. I have seen them as low as a 10mg and as high as 90mg. There are for sever pain, and should be taken w/ caution. LIke I said VERY potent! ## Correct spelling is Hydrocodone ## This pill is not hydrocodone or hydrocodine. It is a type of morphine iI just don't know what kind. ## Are there any other symbols or numbers on the capsule ? I have the following description which might help: Capsule Half White, Half Bluish Green with the imprint 60 mg on the white half, and if you turn it over 506 on the other side of the white half: This is 60 mg Morphine Sulfate Extended Release brand name Avinza. Hi. I have been on 60 mg of morphine sulfate for 3 years. Me and my doctor talked about either upping my dose of morphine or changing it, so we went with a higher dose of morphine. When I filled my Rx I noticed it was for 15 mg of morphine. Is 15mg of morphine stronger than 60mg of morphine? Both are extended release. ## Hi, I was on morphine for 4 years and 60 mg. Is definitely stronger than 15. He lowered your dose or you should have gotten both the 60mg and the 15 mg. To go along with the 60mg. Thats what my dr. gave me when I needed more. ## VALERIE: It doesn't sound like your doctor is very competent. How can 15mgs be STRONGER than 60 mgs? This makes no sense. Maybe he meant for you to take an ADDITIONAL 15 mgs with the 60? I would call them IMMEDIATELY!! ## Im sorry my mistake...

I know the 30mg instant release is cheap. can get 240 for a cost of $23.00 with my insurance plan where as the 60mg extended release the cost went up to 351.00 for 180 pills thru my insurance plan. i saw where the new price next year will be almost $1000.00. ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? The price could go either way next year, there's no way anyone can definitively say that it will or will not go up that much next year. IT all depends on supply and demand, the same forces that drive the prices on all other markets. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have been taking 60mg ms contin extended release 3 times a day + 30mg oxycodone immediate release 4 times a day. Recently my doctor changed the oxycodone to morphine 30mg immediate release. He also added lyrica 75 mg and I also take baclofen 10mg & amitriptyline 50mg in which i take 2. I'm still in constant pain. I was shot 8 yrs ago and I still hardly feel relief. What will help me? ## Hello, Shy! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so the dosages are not equivalent, which likely explains why you are in pain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to the Lyrica, that may take 4 to 5 weeks, before it reaches ...

little round orange pill 60 on one side and abg on the other found in sons car ## I hope you did not read and believe the prior incorrect answer that was posted. This pill is DEFINITELY morphine 60mgs, an extended release version, a generic for MS Contin. I don't even have to look this one up to check what it is, because I suffer a chronic pain condition and I have a whole bottle of these right here in my hand. So it is definitely morphine and not any type of Valium or benzodiazepine.

what is the eqivalent dosage of morphine vs oxycodone? I currently take 40mgs of oxycodone, and would like to change to MS IR, what amount of MS IR is equal to 40mgs of Oxycodone? ## Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so an equivalent dosage would be 60mgs. However, you do need to make sure you taking the same formulation, since both Oxycodone and Morphine come in regular, instant and time released formulations. Thus, if you're taking the regular release formulation of Oxycodone, then you would need a regular release formulation, in that dosage, of the Morphine. The only 40mg Oxycodone available is the extended release, Oxycontin. Due to the dangers of overdose, from getting too much medication, at once, it is highly unlikely that your doctor is going to give ...

It is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals. One possible difference other than the color, could be that the orange pill is noted to be "controlled release (CR)" instead of what you mentioned the pink one to be- "extended release (ER)". I'm not sure however what difference it would make to...

If it is a round, orange pill, it is listed as being 60mgs of Morphine in an extended release formulation that is manufactured by Teva Canada. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
