I am female and have suffered for 6 years with inflammation & painful passing of urine since an operation for prolapse of rectum. Repeated bacterial infection has been treated with antibiotics. I have now been prescribed 3 months treatment of Zoxan 4 mg (1 tab daily) but after 10 days am having considerable side effects and no decrease in difficulty & pain in passing urine - if anything inflammation is increasing.
Any helpful advice from anyone out there?

Zoxan contains the active ingredient Ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic used to treat infections.

What side effects are you experiencing? Have you consulted your doctor?

The common ones for this medication can include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.

It may not be the right medication for you.

The chances of an infection lasting for over 6 years is pretty slim. Have you doctors run any other tests?

I suspect that there is something else causing your problems, possibly related to the surgery.
