Zoloft For Adhd?

I am a 75 year old male. As long as I can remember I have had problems with concentration, forgetting, start a project & not completing it, uneasy around people, find it difficult to carry on a conversation, i can go and ask directions when driving and cannot remember what I was told. I have checked the systems for ADHA on the Internet and I have about all the systems. I was slow in school as when I read something I could not remember what I had read. I have spoken to a number of Doctors on this but they more or less shrug it off. About 15 years ago a Doctor did put me on 50mg of Zoloft per day. I am still on 50mg and have at times bumped it up to 100mg but noticed no change. ANY ONE with any suggestions or have experienced some of what I have experienced I would sincerely appreciate hearing from. Thru all the years this has been a constant problem which is very difficult to continue with. I am retired, have a wonderful family, nice home, no debt and if I could find out what is wrong and has been like forever my life would be perfect. I have never talked with any of my family about this. I was a breach baby when I was born. Was held back one grade in school. The 5th grade. Its been a very rough road for me as I have tried hard to see that it does not effect my family although I know it has through my use of alcoho for 30 years. l very seldom take a drink now.

Thanks much for reading this and will check for any responses.

Zoloft, which contains the active ingredient Sertraline, is an SSRI antidepressant, used to treat depression and OCD.

That said, it is not approved, nor usually used to treat such symptoms as yours, related to ADHD.

this site is not medical professionals, so we cannot possibly guess at what may be causing your problem.

However, ADHD symptoms are usually treated with stimulant medications, such as Adderall or Ritalin.

Some people, however, just naturally have a poor memory and that may be the case for you.

Since your current doctor is not helping, I would suggest seeing someone else. Sometimes, to get to the root of a problem, it is necessary to see several doctors, until you get one that will actually listen to you.

Does anyone else have any advice or ideas for this gentleman?
