What would happen if the pill were cut in half or quartered and only a half were taken?

This tablet is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma and they list it as containing 1mg of Alprazolam in an extended release formulation.

You should never cut, crush or break a time released tablet, doing say could result in your getting too much of the medication, at once, and could result in overdose.

The FDA classifies this medication as a benzodiazepine, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

Well I tried to swallow 2 of them and 4-5 hours later it came out in my stool and looked like 2 green peas. So I'm pretty worried about that
