Xanax Refill At Walgreen's

Last month I traveled about 3 hours from home and filled my new xanax prescription at Walgreen's. I only filled it there because I thought you could use any Walgreen's any where. This month, a full 30 days later, I went to my hometown Walgreen's to refill. The tech informed me that I cannot refill there, that I had to go back to the other Walgreen's. She said the Rx cannot be transferred. I thought by using Walgreen's I could go to any Walgreen's to refill or I would've never done it out of town in the first place. So, now what? If the Rx cannot be "transferred" what are my options? Can my Dr. cancel that Rx and write a new one? I'm not even sure he would if he could. Or is my only choice to travel 3 hours to fill at the original location? I'm not sure it's even worth all of this. Thanks in advance for any advice and assistance. ??

A controlled medicine like Xanax can only be transferred once per federal law. Its always been like this and your best bet is letting your doctor know what happened, show them the bottle and explain your situation
