I have had 4 back surgeries, Starting since I was 30 yrs old, with other chronic pain as well.so it's been a very long time, MY question - My Dr is not in until this Thursday, I take 15 mg of time release oxycontin and 10 oxycodone for a break thru. just saying i have been taking these types of meds for a long time,But was wondering if anyone would think I would be safe to take (two) 15 mil gram of my time release, seeing I dont have my break threw of 10 mg Im short two-three days, Im having a lot of pain. The nurse said she could'nt help me out, I would have to wait for the Dr I do understand that, But in a lot of pain, But i would only be taking 5 extra in all ??? Im not sure if this would be safe, Anyone know If this helps? I just got off taking the fentanly patch 50, and now taking the oxycontin 15 in-stead.

Hello, Karen! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain.

However, no one is going to be able to give you any more of an answer than the nurse did. Only your doctor can do that, anyone else could be held legally liable, if they did so.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

There is a risk of overdose, if that dosage is too high for you.

When will you be seeing your doctor?
