My cardiologist also says that it's okay, in moderation, of course. But, it is normal for a doctor to want you to be cautious, especially a PCP. Most people tell them they don't drink, or they only drink one or two glasses, when they are really drinking far more.
For you, the biggest issue is that wine can also cause some blood thinning, which could be problematic with the Jantoven. The FDA classifies it as a blood thinner and its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, easy bruising and increased risk of bleeding.
Really, moderation is the key and it would likely be best to stick with the half-glass.
