Why Will A Dr Write Schedule Of 2 For Dilaudid Yet Refuse One For Norco
UpdatedMy husband has been seeing the same Dr. for 12 years or more, yet he refuses to write an RX for Norco but Will continue writing them for Dilaudid, morphine, exalgo, and allot of other schedule 2 prescriptions. This makes no sense. My husband had the entire right side of his body crushed in a car accident in 1984. He's had several spine and neck fusions and has sever chronic pain. In a notification I read on the internet, people were supposedly given a chance to voice their concerns. I don't remember getting that chance. I also suffer from chronic pain due to a moderate form of Sppina beffita. What do you do in a situation like this?

Hello, Kat! How are you and your husband? I"m sorry about the problems that you're having.
Is the doctor refusing to prescribe him anything, or is it just that he doesn't want to prescribe Norco?
If it's just the Norco, it might be due to the fact that it contains Acetaminophen, since long-term use of it can lead to liver damage or failure.
There could also be an issue if your husband is specifically asking for Norco and not wanting to try anything else, because doctors will view that as being drug seeking behavior.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
I would not recommend "narco" for long term use because of the acetaminophen.
