Hi Pat,
What time do you usually take your evening/nighttime dose of hydroxyzine? Part of me wonders whether it has enough time to digest if you're going to bed directly after you take it. Based on several reviews I've seen online, hydroxyzine should "kick in" sometime within 30 minutes to an hour an a half after you take it (w/ effects lasting for hours).
However, one other thing to think about if you're only itching at night, is if you might be allergic to the type of bedding you have or perhaps a new laundry detergent? I've heard about that happening to others as well so it seems to me like it may be a prime suspect.
