Why Do The Pill Markings And Bottle Indicate A Different Drug

Why does my friend's pill bottle say 10 mg oxycontin, but when she looks up the markings M squared one side and 05/52 on the other side, it comes up on pill registries that it's 5 mg oxycodone? We are so confused. It's small white and round.

The markings are the most accurate thing. The tablet with M 0552 on it is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 5mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation.

The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Has she checked with her pharmacy? There may have been an error.
