Why Different Milligrams Of Different Meds
UpdatedI have been taking different meds trying to see what works with different milligrams. Please explain to me why oxycodone, morphine, dilaudid, and opana are different milligrams? Oxycodone 10, morphine 30, dilaudid 4, and opana 5; why?

Hello, Denise! How are you?
It's simply due to the fact that some medications are stronger than others. It is the same with some heart and blood pressure medications, a person may need a higher dose of one to achieve the same effect that another one did at a lower dose.
The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, which carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth.
Just to give you an idea, Oxycodone is on a half time stronger than Morphine, so you'd need to take 15mgs of Morphine to be equivalent to 10mgs of Oxycodone.
Is there anything else I can help with?
