I am very concerned. My Dr. started me on methadone at 5 mg 2x per day. 4 days later I had a urine test and the methadone did not show up. now my Dr. is concerned that I am not following treatment and I have been following it as I was told to. does anyone have have any idea as to why methadone would not show up in a pee test?

No. I just took a dot ua and i had it in my system, actually took dose day b4. They only test for coke, pot, meth, pcp, and heroin. Best of luck.

The reason for your negative screen is almost certainly due to the fact that although methadone is an opiate, it is a synthetic (man made) opiate. In most cases you will not be tested for synthetics. It is expensive, and hopefully seen as unnecessary. Due to the fact that it is usually legally prescribed, not abused in the same manner.

CVS Corp uses a standard TEN PANEL urinalysis test to test for illicit drug usage. If you're prescribed the (whatever you're taking), the testing agency will simply verify the prescription for that--and you'll pass. If you're using recreationally, have someone who doesn't take anything pee for you and then use that as your "specimen." They cannot by law observe you pissing if it's for employment. If you're a male, tape your clean pee bottle up under your cahones to maintain at least a 96.7 temp. If you're a female, put the travel bottle of pee up under your tatas in an underwire bra and use that to maintain the temp. Each squeezy & good luck! (travel sized containers can be found in the travel cosmetics section of any drugstore or WM or Target.

I cant figure it out...when i took 5mil 3 txs a day no issues. Moves to 10 mil 3 x a day all good till 2 months back .last 2 show no methadon..put it on hold and sent it out to another lab..only dif in our life over last 2 months ...i been drinkin alot of icetea with lenon and my wifes mom had us useing those pads on our feet at night that takes chems out of body saying it helped her joint pain...they do help but if its zonking the methadon test guess i need to leave the pads off n drink coffee

I'm having the same issue and I'm on a taper going down one mg a week every Monday. Was at 120mg a day and down to 67 now. Was tapering faster 5mg a week but slowed down after getting toooooo sick. But anyways my counselor said my methadone and my kolonopin isn't showing up in my random urine test.

There is no good explanation for this other than a flawed test or that you are very new to the drug and it isn't showing yet. There's nothing you can be taking or doing that would mask your results. I'd be amazed if it happens a second time. -BB

Went to pain doctor today and they gave me my test results of my urine screen from last month and he says that my methadone is showing up but my metabolites is very low which means not breaking down he says the main reason that would be usually is that I'm taking pills and scraping into My urine. I have never in 18 years of going to a pain doctor has ever done that I have a very good record with pain doctor I need to know what else could possibly cause that please someone help me

Tell him to read up on how it hangs in the bladder and some people dont send it thru their urine like others.

They can do bloodwork, before you get dosed and 3 hours after you take it, it is to see if you are a fast metabolizer! Meaning your body is eating it up faster than normal, been there, done that, it was the case

I took 40 mg the day before my urine test and 20 mg a few hours before my urine test. It didn't show up in my urine and now my doctor refuses to give it to me because he thinks I haven't been taking it. I really need these for my back and I don't understand why it didn't show uo. Can anyone help please.

It is exceedingly rare that doses as you described taking wouldn't show up in your tox.Profile There are always exceptions which include but not limited to issues with your metabolism rate, compromised or contaminated collection and screening process or taking a drug that contains no methadone.I would highly suggest you plead your case to the prescriber and offer to be retested even at your own expense. Nothing is worse then legit. Pain patients suffering when other options are available. Please post back with any follow up . Regards, Kenie

I failed to include a specific test that can measure your rate of metabolism known as a peek and thru.its normally obtained thru a blood draw but there are certain preps and protocols only a lab can truly explain in a more precise way. Best of luck.........

I work in a clinic and when we do a standard urine drug screen it's always negative unless they're taking something else they're not supposed to be. You're Clinic needs to use a urine drug screen specifically for testing methadone or send your urine off to a lab for a confirmation of metabolites and their strengths in your urine.

VA had me on Methadone for 45 days...Started on Sept 25th w/ a urine test that showed I had been taking Morphine (True but I stopped two days after starting Methadone). Nov 7th, my second urine test showed the same thing, Methadone & Morphine? False, I quit Morphine as stated above. Nov 15th, third test and you guessed it... results show both Morphine & Methadone. (I took no Morphine?) Why is Morphine showing up on my urine tests?

Will a regualr family practitioner have this type of test..having the same issue for a year with my 5 mg tid prn so I started taking it on my own as a scheduled and still nothing shows up he said he's about to send me back to the pain clinic and thay place is a nightmare I'd rather live with this horrible pain for the rest of my life then go through this and be made to feel bad for having a negative drug screen..
