Hello, Missy! How are you?
The round, white tablet with the 112 marking contains 5mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I'm not sure but if it were my guess, I would say that back in the 80's the meds were probably still a more pure/natural form of opiate. It seems to me that the big pharmaceutical companies began to really take off in the 90's an I have no doubt there's alot of greed going on. Pain meds today are probably more synthetic making them cheaper to make. I knew a guy who told me that he was on codiene back in the 70's for several months and stopped cold turkey with no problems. Then he ended up taking codiene again a few years ago after surgery and was only on it for 2 months and he had terrible withdrawal and he was taking less than he had taken before. I wouldn't be surprised if the drug companies are putting stuff in a lot of those meds now to specifically get people hooked. Is it just a coincidence that prescription drug wasn't nearly as prevalent before the 1990's? Hell, half of the companies making the pain meds are the same companies making the methadone and suboxone!
Back in the early 1980's, when I was 29 years old, I developed debilitating headaches and a low fever that went up and down throughout each day.
This went on for several weeks, and I began seeing an infectious disease specialist doctor as my GP recommended I do. (AIDS was just coming on the scene at that time.) The infectious disease doc had just scheduled me for a spinal tap when my forehead began to break out in blister-like sores. The doc says: "We know what's wrong now! You've got shingles!"
I was told I was being given Percocet for the pain. Whatever it was, it worked wonders! But whatever this med was, it came in a capsule, not a pill form. I believe the capsules were blue and white, maybe? Not sure. I took them for more than 3 months, and the doc told me if I had any problem discontinuing them, to let him know. I didn't have any withdrawal issues from this med.
A few years ago I fell and broke my hip. My hip doc for this medical issue prescribed me what he said was Percocet, and I thought: 'Oh goodie, I know that stuff works on pain!'
But when I got the script filled, I did not get capsules, these were pills, like aspirin comes in, only oval; not round, and the pill bottle label DID say "generic for Percocet 10/325."
So if THIS is Percocet (I didn't care for it as much as what I was given in the early '80's for shingles), what then was I given back in the 80's and thought I'd been told it was Percocet? (I was way less familiar with various kinds of drugs when I was 29 years old than I am now).
Just curious...did Percocet used to come as a powder in capsules, but now comes in pill form or what? Like I said, whatever I'd been given back in the early '80's was way better at relieving pain than this more current stuff I've been prescribed that is also called Percocet. If not generic Percocet, what then was I given back in the '80s?
Thanks!
Although i cant guarantee this without actually seeing it, It's either a 5mg Percocet or hydroxyzine HCL 10 mg which is a prescription antihistamine for allergies.
