However, it depends on whether you are talking about the generic instant release oxymorphone compared to oxycodone 20mg instant release or to oxycontin 20mg ER. If you are comparing the instant to the ER, oxymorphone is still proportionally twice as strong as oxycodone per milligram, but the length of action will be different as the instants only last 4-6 hours whereas the ERs last 8-12 hours.

In any case im not calling you a liar so plz do not be upset. Just pointing out a fact. It is a fact that they are not abuse proofing IRs tho. It simply isnt done to any ir pharms. You were obviously confused with the MUCH more commonly prescribed and discussed opana er. Opana ir is just about the most rarely prescribed narc on the market. That is how they junkie proof it .. by keeping it scarse. Fent patches oxys mscont dillys percs are all more common.

Opana er has always been tamper proof due to matix.
They will not change ir due to the fact that it is ir .. matrix would interfere with absorpsion rate slowing it down and ruining the point of the i in ir.
Same thing with coating.
Its really not practical to tamper proof instant release pills.

everyone is different... but youre looking at anywhere from a 30-60 mg oxycontin equivalency (insufflation being the route of administration). if you take it orally, it will take away a headache but thats about it. however, much like what theyve done to oxycontin, they are about to change the formula of opana/generic oxymorphone so that they are "abuse proof." this will substantially affect the effectiveness of this medicine. if you take this for pain, and depend on it, consult your doctor about this change, because its going to affect you in a major, major way. good luck.

yes its oxymorphone 10mg instant release. like missy says they're not as good as opana (extended release) for pain management; the person i know who is prescribed them is supposed to take one every 4-6 hrs, instead of 1 20mg a day. They are also cut with chalk or something as a filler/binding agent so they expand considerably when water is added.

they are much less effective than the brand name and I am very disappointed. Within 18 hours of starting on these new generics, my pain was back in full force. I had filled a 90 day supply and will be in awful pain until I refell for the brand. NEVER again will I take this generic. I thought they were supposed to be the same thing. I am sure it is the new generic that is allowing my pain to coming barreling back.

I have checked all of our resources for a tablet with this marking or a similar one and I am not finding anything in the U.S. prescription drug databases.
I know the marking 54 followed by three numbers is used on prescription medications, but it might not be something that is available in the U.S.
