I've taken Hydrocodone 10/325 for years for chronic back pain. With it being moved to a class 2 from class 3 I cannot get my med. Filled. I ask my doctor to change/rewrite script For 7.5 hydrocodone, why does the 7.5 script seem stronger than the 10/325. Has the formulas changed.
It's crazy what's happening to Chronic pain suffers all over the nation!
Any advice is helpful.
Why is one melagram of the same medication plentiful and others of the same medication not. I should not have had to lower my dosage strength in order to have any quality of life. Thx

In addition to what BL stated, my understanding has always been that different "inactive" ingredients in the 10/325 may inhibit how well it's metabolized in comparison to the binders/fillers used in the 7.5/325 tablet. While this is only a hypothesis, I've seen several cases on here where patients were reportedly taking a different manufacturer's brand or generic version of the same drug, but still experienced a difference in efficacy even when the dosage was listed to be the same. In cases where it's not generic, this only leaves room for error in the ever-changing lists of inactive ingredients that seem to vary from one manufacturer to another. The addition of it being a generic just adds to any potential discrepancies as BL mentioned.
Hope this insight helps!
The forumla hasn't changed. It may be that the manufacturer is uisng more of the active ingredient in the 7.5 than the 10. Generics can have a varing degree of active ingredients. For example, if the rx is suppose to have 10 mgs, it can have anywhere from 8 mg-12 mg in each dose.
