Yes, the tablet with the marking IP 177 on one side and 1000 on the other (separated by a score line) does contain 1,000mgs of Metformin, which is an oral antidiabetic medication that's used to help lower and control blood sugar.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia.

Is this different than the prior one that you were taking?
