White Crosses
Updatedit's been a long while back but there used to be a pill going around that was maybe a little smaller than an aspirin and all it had on it was an X on one side they was called white crosses and I'm wondering if anybody knows the medical name of the pill and if they still around?

Back in the 1990's they were pure Ephedrine HCL 25mg. Now they are a combination of Ephedrine and Guaifenesin. The Guaifenesin is a cough suppresant but is also added to the pills to make it difficult to use the pills for making methamphetamine.
At one point, the drug being referred to as white crosses contained an amphetamine stimulant, similar to Adderall, or some of the others used to treat ADHD. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight loss, nervousness, and anorexia.
Are there any other questions?
The cross roads from the 1970's was simply amphetamine. Towards the end of that decade magazines like High Times was selling things called Robin eggs and black beauties. I was informed by a sherrifs deputy who lead the drug team that these were ephedrine, which at the time was legal. There was desoxyn used as a diet pill but this has all but been replaced by a safer drug. No doubt you will be prescribed something if you present at a doctor for weight loss, it will be something modern and deemed safe. It would be hard to get a doctor to prescribe amphetamines these days in spite of a remote course of drugs not used in current therapy.
