Hello, Debby! How are you?
Morphine is the active ingredient in Kadian, so neither one that you've mentioned is stronger. The difference lies in the formulation.
The Kadian is a time released formulation, so the Morphine is slowly released for a period of approximately 12 hours to provide better pain control.
While the IR is an instant release formulation that releases all of the Morphine at once to alleviate pain and these ones usually last about 6 to 8 hours….but sometimes as little as 4, if someone is tolerant to opiates.
