Neither, because they are in two different medication classes.

Guaifenesin is an expectorant that can help break up mucous to lessen congestion. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness and dry mouth.

However, Promethazine is an antihistamine that can help treat allergic reactions and also prevent nausea and vomiting. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth.
