Hi Blake,
In general, most antibiotics are taken for a course of 7-10 days. I've had a similar upper respiratory infection before and was prescribed penicillin 500mg to take 2-3 times a day for a week or until the script was all used up. So I guess when it comes to a 3 pack vs a 5 pack, maybe what matters is simply having enough to get through a full week? Have you discussed any of this with your prescribing doctor yet?
