This may be true but I'm skeptical because I also live in the Central Valley of California. The Valley not only has a severe shortage of physicians but is populated by a large number of uneducated, right wing extremists who want to tell everybody how to live. Of course, not everyone in the valley is narrow-minded, but the political climate is oppressive. A visit to a large coastal city may solve this person's problem. But as I initially stated, you my very well be correct.

In their typical knee-jerk reaction, our politicians have passed regulations that were meant to cut down on pill mills and the black market for opiate drugs. The effect, however, has been to cut off these drugs to many patients who have a legitimate need for them. These restrictive laws affect every American. The solution is to call or write to your state and Federal representatives and let them know that if they don't correct this situation, they will be voted out of office.

It is a mistake to believe that your representatives don't read your letters or care about your complaints. All of them have a staff that read every letter. They have meetings and convey complaints directly to the representative. Just make sure not to use foul language or use a threatening tone. If you make the letter sound professional, it will be taken seriously.
