My pain medication no longer works. My body stop has responding to them and instead I feel amped up. That's so disheartening, and defeats the purpose. The reason for taking pain meds is because I suffer from 6 major medical diagnosis and I don't what to get into them right now. My physician plays dumb when I ask him. I will say I've been on pain meds for over 11yrs and have had 4 surgeries and another 1 is in the works. Can anyone help? Please and your help is very appropriated.

Valium is the most effective medication for cerebral palsy I have lived with it for 55 yrs
1ST, ARE YOU AT A PAIN MANAGMENT DR? IF NOT LOOK UP A GOOD ONE ONLINE AND MAKE SURE THEY DO MEDICATION MANAGEMENT AND THEN MY ANSWER TO YOU IS FENTANYL. IT IS THE STRONGEST FOR THE AMOUNT. IT COMES IN A PATCH YOU WHERE IT FOR 3 DAYS (COVER IT WITH TEGADERM CLEAR PLASTIC BANDAGES OR IT WILL COME OF AND BUBBLE UP) IT COMES IN MCG/HR NOT MGS, THERE ARE 5-100 I THINK. I HAVE WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A SIMILAR SITUATION TO YOU AND I TOOK 25MCG BUT NOW AM GOING TO 50MCG, JUST BE CAREFUL. READ EVERYTHING CAUSE THERE'S QUITE A FEW SEVERE INTERACTIONS WITH SOME ANTIBIOTICS AND TRAMADOL, AND YOU CANT DRINK AT ALL OR EVEN USE ALCOHOL BASED PRODUCTS. SORRY DIDNT REALIZE MY CAPS WERE ON TIL I WAS 1/2 DONE, HOPE I COULD HELP!
I'm from central California, and I hope if I share what I've tried over the years someone can suggest a pain relief medication that'll help. First medical marijuana is not a option. 2003 I started with vicodin and soma, surgery 2004 increased dosage and milligrams, seriously damage my spinal cord just below disc 2 surgery again 2008, began morphine, soma, vicodin, 2011 staff infection, morphine milligrams increased, soma dosage increased, and diluadid added as a pain break through. (Apologize for misspellings) . As a result my body has built up a immune to all meds I'm not feeling the results, and my lower back has just been operated on. But my primary Dr. just ignores me, can anyone suggest a remedy, any help is greatly appreciated.

I have similar diagnosis as yours. Been on narcotics for 9 years. I've increased over the years because my condition has worsened and also because my body gets used to it after a while. I'm currently on Vicodin 10/325 two every six hours (240 a month). So far this is helping more than any strength I've had so far. I'm 4'11" 112 pounds. Hope this helps.
My story is like everyone else's, Brown Sequard syndrome, bulging discs, bone spurs, spinal stenosis from down my neck to the bottom of my back, I've had 3 neck fusions, the last one was to remove mersa infection 3lrg cists, now my surgeon tells me, my spinal cord in my neck area is badly bruised and I need another fusion, and also he has to operate on my lower back because of bone spurs and clean out spinal stenosis, I've tried non-narcotics with no relief, my primary Dr recommended me to pain specialist's and they refuse to prescribe narcotics, my primary Dr doesn't know what I should take, I just want to feel pain relief can you please help, also I don't do drugs nor alcohol, but everyone's stereotyping as if I do. Sincerely Sherry
There isn't anyway to say that any one medication in a certain dosage is more effective than another, it really depends on the person and what works for them.
That said, it's hard to even make a suggestion that you can discuss with your doctor, when you haven't mentioned what you've already tried, so no one knows where to go.
Can you post back and clarify? Thanks!
