There's actually a lot of OTC drugs that can cause a false positive for Methamphetamine. I don't know them all, but asthma medications and allergy medications are common instigators.
NOTE: The occurrence of false-positives are solely dependent upon the accuracy of the drug test and not in one bit due to the drug in and of itself.
They could use a drug test called 'gas chromatograph mass spectrometer'; that has the ability to distinguish the exact substance in question. I think companies who don't use this method right off the bat are just too scared to spend a little extra money for the right results.
Hopefully this will change in time as they realize the statistics showing how many people this happens to on a daily basis. These false reports just put too much stress on patients who are simply taking their medications as prescribed.
