on one of my prescriptions on the bottle it says OXYCODON HCL-APAP 10/325 and the pill is oblong. I had them refilled and the bottle says OXYCODONE-APAP 10-325 and the pill is round. So what I want to know is what the HCL stands for and are these the same medications?

Yes, they are the same. The HCL just stands for Hydrochloride and designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from, they just didn't include it on the one label.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
