Hi Lois,
According to the drug monograph for that 500mg tab, the dosing indications are listed at 1 tablet every 8 hours for 7-10 days. However, on the stronger version of this medication, the maximum recommended dose is listed at 1 tablet of Amoxicillin (875mg) + clavulanic acid (125mg) every 12 hours for 7 - 10 days. Based on that, it sounds to me like you took a few too many at one time.
If you start feeling any repercussions from having done that, you may want to look into getting some probiotics. The good bacteria is healing to your gut and also prevents things like yeast infections (which can be a side effect from having too many prescription antibiotics).
