seem to be getting confused between the differences as I did think both were opiates

I have been prescribed Belbuca 150 mcgs to take in addition to Percocet 10/325 tid. Should this provide adequate pain control for severe chronic pain? I didn't think the Belbuca was doing much. Not sure how it helps pain if it's used to help with withdrawals. Any insights?Thank you!

Hello, Todd! How are you? I'm sorry about your confusion and I'm happy to help clear it up for you.

Oxycontin contains the opiate Oxycodone in a time released formulation.

However, Percocet contains Oxycodone coupled with Acetaminophen.

Oxycodone is also available as a regular release formulation and an instant release, called Roxicodone and Oxy IR, respectively.

The FDA lists this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
