Why don't you ask your doctor about one of the other alternatives, such as Fenofibrate?
It can also lower cholesterol, but isn't a statin, so it doesn't cause the same problematic side effects and it's been around for a very long time, so it's usually not too expensive.
It's most common side effects can include nausea, rash and flatulence.
