According to an equianalagesic report by The Medical University of South Carolina (linked below), Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) would be the next step up from Methadone; and after Hydromorphone comes Fentanyl, which is ranked as number 1 on their potency chart. And please do feel free to correct me if you understand this type of chart differently. When I refer to ranking, I'm going by the order in which each drug is listed here:

In my opinion there is no true equivalency to be had among any pain medication, because different binders and fillers tend to affect the quality & bioavailability of tablets in such a way that creates inconsistency from one manufacturer and/or tablet to another. This doesn't even account for generic drugs varying by up to 20% or so in active ingredients, let alone each drug's unique individual half-life.

On the equianalagesic chart linked above Methadone is reportedly more potent than Opana from a general perspective, but I have not looked into comparing specific dosages against one another and think that it may be best discussed with your doctor based on whether or not the Opana is alleviating your pain.
