What Is Lowest Livable Blood Pressure?

20 years ago I was blacking out over a period of time so went to the ER. Had BP of 21/14. Literally. How common is this? I was awake and they asked me why I was still alive. I still wonder to this day. Took me 60 days to get back to normal. Docs concluded allergy. Should I be dead?

This is honestly the first time I've ever heard of anyone having a blood pressure THAT low (21/41). So it's probably not very common at all and it's no wonder you were blacking out on a regular basis because of it... Information from the mayoclinic suggests that big plunges in blood pressure due to allergic reactions can be life threatening. But as to how close you may have been to death, I haven't found any specific details mentioning exact figures. Although my guess is that you were probably pretty close, seeing as 50/33 is considered to be quote on quote "dangerously low" on blood pressure charts.

Did your doctor determine what might've caused the allergic reaction?
