Hello, Peggy! How are you?

This describes the feedback interactions and direct influence of 3 endocrine glands in your body, the adrenal gland, the hypothalamus and the pituitary. Its the interactions between them that creates the HPA axis.

It helps control things like stress, your immune system, digestion, emotions and etc. I'm trying to keep this simple for you, so if you'd like more details, please feel free to let me know and I'll post back and go more in-depth for you.

Your HPA axis is involved in many things that could possibly cause your problems, such as mood disorders. PTSD, IBS and alcoholism.

Were you given any other details?
