Hi Rusty,

Based on my research, Clonidine and Benadryl do have a drug interaction problem, in that, they may have additive effects on lowering your blood pressure when taken together or within the same time frame.

Symptoms associated with low blood pressure may involve headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, or low pulse/heart rate.

So even though these are two different types of medications (Benadryl being an allergy medicine and Clonidine being a blood pressure medicine), I personally wouldn't recommend using the Benadryl until you know for sure that the Clonidine is out of his system completely. I think it's just best to play it safe when it comes to these drug interactions.

NOTE: Since the benedryl is not technically used for lowering blood pressure in and of itself; there is a chance that it may not suffice as a replacement option for clonidine.

Have you considered trying any natural treatment options for lowering blood pressure?
