Antibiotics only help with bacterial infections, so if you're symptoms have been caused by a cold or flu, which are caused by viruses, it will not treat them. The FDA lists the most common side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
Another issue could be that it might not have been the correct antibiotic to eradicate whatever infection you have. You may need to see your doctor to try a different one.
